“CAFE PIERRE IS 36 YEAR-OLD GEM, ABOUT TO REINVENT ITSELF”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014

Last night was my first dining experience at this Manhattan Beach French cuisine stalwart. Enjoyed it thoroughly. Good food, especially the specials, good service and a lot of energy. Our server told us that on 4-13-2014 the place is shutting down and will remodel and reinvent itself as an Italian restaurant. The good news for Francophiles is that some of the experienced staff and French cuisine will transfer to a related restaurant nearby. Good luck to the owners i n their new venture.

“Great Environment and Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 7, 2014

The manager, Victor, has been with the restaurant a long time and is a wonderful host. The food continues to be fresh and tasty and while not as innovative as some of the newer places is consistent and well worth a visit. Check it out!

“A Wonderful Surprise!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

We live in north LA county and were meeting friends who live in OC so wanted a place in the "middle". I found Cafe Pierre on Tripadvisor and based on the reviews we decided to give it a try. We arrived at 7:30 and our table was ready. Immediately, we knew we were in for a treat as we read the menu saw the variety of choices. My husband was very impressed with their eclectic wine list, as well. We all started off with cocktails and talked for awhile before ordering but never felt any pressure or like we were being rushed. Once we finally did order, the appetizers came out quickly. Do not miss the grilled octopus!!! Might sound a bit strange but it was amazing. We each ordered different entrees and everything we had was wonderful. Between the four of us, we tried the braised rabbit (the best he's ever had), the steak au poivre that was cooked to perfection and served with a delicate and creamy, yet robust pepper sauce; the petite filet that received rave reviews and the 8 hour braised short ribs that were full of flavor but so tender and incredible! We were all to full to try the delicious looking desserts but do not miss Cafe Pierre! The staff are all friendly and cordial and the food is amazing. Even though we live an hour away, this is one restaurant we will be going back to!

“Nice restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2013

How can you lose when the owner is there to greet you. He even came over to check on us when we were done. We had excellent service. Our waiter was attentive without being too intrusive. The choices were varied ...even have small plates! All in all, a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends.

“Overshadowed by newer places, but still worth the visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 13, 2013

There was a time, 10 years ago, when Cafe Pierre was the only place for foodies in MB. Now MB is full of new restaurants catering to a more discerning diner. Yet Cafe Pierre should not be overlooked. The updated interior from a few years ago is a welcoming spot to sit and eat, and the menu provides a diverse collection of small plates and entrees that should appeal to everyone. The quality of the food remains high, the service friendly and attentive, and there is less noise and frenzy than some of the newer places, that may have brought a little too much West LA to the beach, in my opinion. More relaxing and still enjoyable overall, if that is what you are looking for. You will not regret your visit.
