“Trying to be all things to all people”
Reviewed December 5, 2011

This restaurant is just plain average when you strip away the trendy style. The sushi items were ok but it took a long time for them to get delivered to the table. The food is average or worse but very expensive for what you get. They spend so much time on the presentation of the food, but the focus should be on the quality of the food and it's seasoning. The non sushi items were drenched in sauces and would have been better with a small amount of salt and pepper.
It was an unfortunate choice for dinner but the wait staff was very pleasant and willing to please.

“Overpriced with excellent to average food”
Reviewed October 26, 2011

Great spot to to meet up with friends for an early dinner and cocktails. Outside seating is the best for people watching, especially on warm evenings. I find the food ranges from excellent to average. Very pricey for what you get. Better sushi places in town.

“Awesome food and bar!”
Reviewed October 17, 2011

Awesome and unique sushi, cool bar. Small portions, but isn't that what sushi is all about? Great date night, or large group place, don't take kids...

“Excellent Food, Excellent Service”
Reviewed September 1, 2011

Had a reservation for 4 of us...were seating fairly promptly. Had been there a few times quite a while ago...read the reviews that the Iron Chef guy wasn't there any more so a bit nervous that the quality would not be as good. We were taking friends there for the first time. Ordered quite a variety of things from sashimi, robata, sushi rolls, edaname and had a few drinks. While the prices are a bit $$$ ...the food is beatifully presented and all taste wonderful from the spiced edaname to the few little bits of robata...even if small portions..so incredibly tasty. Rolls were wonderful. Walked out stuffed and happy.
Would definetely go back again.

“Poor Katsuya Imitation - Yeachhh Food, Good Atmosphere”
Reviewed December 24, 2009

This is the 3rd time I've eaten here => it never gets better. Everything is just a little off and the atmosphere can't make up the difference.

Architectually it's great - aside from the 1 foot hole in the ceiling and dead flies in the lampshade of the main dining room - seriously why not fix it?

When compared to Koi and Katsuya the food is really second rate - can't figure out what's going on here - Shrimp roll had a wierd spicy taste and peanut sauce was off the mark. Shiseido peppers were huge (quanity + size), but a little too sweet. Spicey tuna on crispy rice had a wierd texture - overworked tuna.

The bar and outside patio are probably your best bet if you want to hang out on a weekend... If you want Sushi in MB or Hermosa there are numerous of other options.
