Point Dume Beach is lovely and I also recommend paying the $8 for parking to be close to the quieter end of the beach. Be sure to save a lot of time to spend walking up to the preserve area. There is a walking trail and incredible views of the Pacific. There are often sea lions on the rocks jutting out of the ocean and dolphins are common visitors. I've had friends see whales from the preserve, but I haven't seen any yet. I'll keep coming back, though! There is a questionable wooden staircase that leads down to the beach on the other side. Be careful there! Point Dume Beach is a perfect beach destination for locals and visitors!
