The spectacular oceanfront location on Pacific Coast Highway offers over 300 feet of romantic oceanfront dining and memorabilia from both Hawaii and California surfing history. The Barefoot Bar, looking south into the lights of Santa Monica, is a great spot for drinks and casual food with friends.

“Prefer Dukes to Gladstones now”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

We had a great lunch here Monday before Christmas - for once we were not in a hurry, just killing time before a flight.
Our main courses were great - but like others, starters left a lot to be desired - the calamari could have been anything.
Not so tourist as Gladstones and certainly we will come back - window seat is a must.

“Just ok, nothing special”
Reviewed January 3, 2014

Good view from the Sand bar outside patio. Ordered fish and chips, pretty hard to go wrong. Fish was fishy tasting and only 2 small pieces. Calamari appetizer was small portion, overpriced and oddly cut from a calamari patty. Service was mediocre. Took forever to get out order. Not too impressed. Hit Paradise Cove for some home cooking and something better for your money.

“Great views but very disappointing drinks and food”
Reviewed January 2, 2014 via mobile

If you don't care about the quality of your drinks or appetizers, but want a nice view, come here. We had two appetizers--coconut shrimp and calamari. Both were terrible, even apart from the small portions. The quality of the shrimp and calamari was poor, which I guess was the reason why they had a heavy cheap batter and deep fried oily taste. Out wine portions were small, and the cocktail was not even passable. At least the bottled beer and views were good. Save your money. Go elsewhere.

Can't beat the location and although the place is pricey it is Malibu. Crab legs, steak, chicken where all excellent.

“Dukes Does It Right The First Time”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

We were visiting family in LA and they said we needed to try Dukes of Malibu.
It was Christmas week and lots of tourists around so weren't optimistic about chances for a good table. When we arrived, the lot was full so I went in while others parked the cars. they greeter joked about my Green Bay Packers hat as he was from Chicago and a Bears fan. He said he could seat us in 20 mins right by the water. The waiter greeted us and we told him it was our first visit. He told us what were the favorite hordevours and main courses. We loved the food. so fresh and tasty. They even gave us a free icecream cake slice to share for desert. We gave waiter a big tip! For view of ocean and outstanding food at a fair price, you have to try Dukes.
