We have dined here several times over the years and have always enjoyed the magnificent views of the ocean as well as the food. When visiting relatives in Malibu recently, we all went to Dukes for dinner on "Taco Tuesday," based upon the suggestion of one of my nieces. We sat in the bar area at an ocean front table and munched on delicious fish tacos while watching the waves crash against the shore, with the ocean spray sometimes splashing up against the windows. Many people who have never been to the Southern California coast really can't even conceive of how truly beautiful and special it is to dine almost literally right on the water on a beautiful star lit night.
As for the food, the fish tacos were terrific. The cost was just three dollars per taco and you can order them with either beer battered or grilled fish fillets, There is an ample portion of tasty white fish in each taco. I tried both but went for second helpings on the beer battered. We finished up with their signature Hula Pie (Macadamia Nut ice cream, Oreo cookie crust and hot fudge) and a Key Lime pie, both of which were larger enough to split after over indulging on some tasty tacos and fries.
There is no shortage of restaurants in Malibu that would not exactly be considered light on the wallet and Dukes's regular menu would be priced more in line with other fine dining options in the area. Taco Tuesday, however, is a great way to dine in a beautiful ocean front setting in a beautiful seaside community and not have to break the bank by doing so.
