Description: Duke's Malibu has brought the excitement of Hawaii, Waikiki, and surfing to the mainland. The spectacular oceanfront location on Pacific Coast Highway offers over 300 feet of romantic oceanfront dining and memorabilia from both Hawaii and California surfing history. The Barefoot Bar, looking south into the lights of Santa Monica, is a great spot for drinks and casual food with friends.

Clearly, the best thing Duke's has going for it is the location: right on the ocean on the PHC. There is a parking lot with valet attendants. I arrived about 10-15 minutes prior to the restaurant opening, so I sat in the outside patio/bar. There is a plexiglass partition to protect you from the elements (wind, water) coming off the ocean while you eat and drink.

I had two appetizers: CRISPY COCONUT SHRIMP with Lilikoi dipping sauce, and the BAREFOOT BAR NACHOS WITH CHICKEN (Black beans, salsa fresca, jalapeños, cheese, guacamole and sour cream). It took a very long time for the nachos to arrive. The melted cheese was already cold and stiff. The shrimp was not bad. Drink were on the more expensive side, around $12

I'd return for the view, but the food was average.

Duke's malibu is a cute scenic restaurant off the highway.. I was so excited to go to a Hawaiian restaurant after visiting from Maui. First time I had a Lava Flow since 1-2 yrs ago. Ordered Coconut Shrimp, Scallop BLT, and Crab Wontons. Great appetizers, esp the coconut shrimp. Nice and chill location with great views of the ocean!

We went here In June as part of our road trip and heard it had great viwes and served good food. Well they werent wrong. We had the Mango ribs which were to die for, we were so full we couldnt eat them all so took them home in a dodgy bag to eat! The lava Lava cocktail was lovely and the selection of beers were great. The views looking out into the ocean were great. We read they had one in Hawaii which was our next stop so we went there too. Service was very good also so well woth a visit.

Tried this place after a day at the beach in Malibu, a few days back. When calling to make a reservation, we asked for a nice table and when we arrived, we got a table just by the windows overlooking the water. If was beautiful, we were just a few feet away from the waves splashing up against the rocks. Then our waitress arrived. From this point on, the visit was a sheer nightmare. It was as if she made everything to make us feel unwelcome. We smiled and she did not smile back, and disappeard as soon as she had taken our orders. We were two people and ordered two appetizers and two entrées. After over 20 minutes, one appetizer comes in. We finish it, and wait another 30+, after which we get our entrées (from another person than our waitress). Waitress is still gone, but when we see her walking by we ask where the other appetizer is. "I only heard you ordering one" is her answer. No apologies, nothing. When saying we would have liked the other appetizer as well, she says with a very annoyed voice that she can tell the kitchen to make one now. My boyfriend then asks what will happen with our entrées as they would get cold from the wait. "I can put them under the heater, there's nothing else I can do" is her response, again with a not so pleasant tone. We decline that offer as nobody want to have food that is not fresh but has been standing under a heater for half an hour. In addition to this, she also "misunderstood" our drink order and got us a full bottle of champagne instead of half a one as we asked for (the half bottle was on the menu), then was very reluctant to only get us half even though we pointed it out before having drunk more than half a glass each. Overall, it felt as though she just wanted us out of there. The food was OK, the one appetizer we did have was crab wontons which were good. Main courses were grilled mahi mahi with a salsa on the side, pretty decent but not that much flavour so not worth its price, and ribs with mango glaze, which were good ribs but drowning in the glaze. Overall this meal would be worth about half of what we paid for it given the wuality of the food, and seeing that the service was god awful, I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Disappointed by their awful service, our waitress was rude and messed up our orders. Food is OK, not bad but rather plain an not worth it's price.
