“Great Food Great location”
Reviewed August 13, 2013

Driving up the PCH stopped in at this restaurant. The food was great!! The chili was delicious, fried chicken was very good loved the grilled asparagus. The view was wonderful right across from the Malibu Pier. The decor is very retro has a cool groovy surfer vibe to the place.

“History, food, drinks, music and pool...”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

The Malibu Inn, on the north side of PCH at Malibu Pier has a great history and still delivers some good food and quite tasty drinks. We were there on a slower week night when there was no live music playing, but the slate of shows looks like that was our loss.

We kept it simple on the food, but the salmon, sliders and salads were good and tasty. The drinks were not watered down as you find in some bars. After we ate we played a few games of pool in the back room. Look carefully at the walls and around, you will see some history and some things which in today's politically correct world will remind you that it wasn't always this way.

Server and barman were friendly. Outside tables to the west side available as well. You might think a good gin and tonic is simple, but it needs to be done well. At the Malibu Inn, I found that they can make a good one and keep repeating the creation process. Well done.

“Glad we stopped in”
Reviewed July 19, 2013 via mobile

3 for lunch and we had a nice table on the patio. Food was awesome and the service was great. Try the bloody Mary with the slider on top. The salmon was good but the tuna was better.

“Unique”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

Stopped here to eat before crossing the street to Malibu Pier. Very unique - nice patio area outside and very relaxed atmosphere. Food was good, however service was poor. We were asked to seat ourselves so we did. After about 25 minutes we went to find someone to wait our table because staff was very inattentive (there were only about 5 other customers). Would recommend because of atmosphere and food.

“Seen Better Days”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

One has the impression of entering a large dark cave. It attempts to be 1930's and 40's--signage and vintage heads shots of famous people, but with the cheap furniture and mediocre food, it comes across as worn out, and more of a surfer's bar. That being said, the host was welcoming and the table service reasonable. But do not go out of your way to eat here.
