“Great food”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

Make sure you start with the Grilled Corn Mexican Style. Order anything with the Tomatillo Crema sauce it is wonderful. Parking can be a nightmare so plan ahead.

“Very Little Choice.”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

Not the best menu choice and over priced. Would not recommend going here unless you had no other choice that day.

“Cafe what?”
Reviewed March 9, 2013

Interesting that the name of the place would make you believe that it served Cuban food, well it does have a few items from the island but the bulk is average Mexican and burgers, Come on you can do netter than that. Nice outside patio and a strange bar that is seldom occupied.

“a mixed bag”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

We were looking for a place to have dinner before a 8:00 p.m. show at nearby Pepperdine and settled on Cafe Habana because of location and menu. Food was a mixed bag; some excellent, some [fries] poor. Ordered the $24 striped sea bass platter; fish was excellent, as was the accompanying sauteed chopped zuchini and spinach. Realized afterwards that they didn't serve the accompanying corn puree that was listed on the menu, and the serving of fish was adequate but it wasn't a lot of food. We also ordered the $13 Cubano sandwich, which was tasty but spicier than any Cubano we've had in the past, though the menu gave no hint of that [pulled pork, smoked ham, Swiss cheese, and half sour pickles], so this version presumably arrived via Mexico. The accompanying French fries were not very good and by far the weakest item we sampled; they reminded me of old fashioned frozen French fries from the supermarket that were heated in the oven and served when they were lukewarm. Service was attentive and well done, contrary to other comments, maybe because it was early and the place was only half full when we were being served our food. Bottles of Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA were $7. Atmosphere is pleasant enough for a cafe-pub; we decided against sitting on the more pleasant patio because of a noisy table with kids there. It's located within the very nice "Lumberyard" retail complex that also holds trendy upscale retail stores, which combined with being in Malibu explains the prices.
