When this spot opened, it was great. The space is nice and heated patio was comfortable even on those chilly nights. Food was fresh and light, drinks were strong, and the music was fantastic. Drinks remain as does the music. The food however has taken a dive. The corn with cheese appetizer is a staple and remains good. All I can say is it is just polished cheap Mexican food, in a trendy spot. It needs a menu makeover and more focus on quality. Service is sporadic. I hope it returns to it's previous glory.

Cafe Habana is a fun and trendy. The food was really yummy- especially the corn appetizer. The menu offers a variety of Mexican dishes. The staff was so friendly and relaxed just like Malibu. The outdoor garden was a scenic spot to dine.

The fish tacos were great. We also had cheese enchiladas and burritos were excellent as well. We did have to wait but the host did the best he could. Actually we enjoyed chatting on the patio on the comfy sofas and having drinks until our table was ready.

I agree with some of the other reviews and being from the Miami area, this is more Mexican than Cuban. None the less, I found this place by accident while my wife and girls shopped the stores (very overpriced stores) . It has a neat little vibe to it, seems like a local flair of who is who in malibu. A local watering hole. Drinks are small for the price but the food was fairly priced and good in my opinion giving the town. Our party of 8 (4 kids under 14 were offered etch a schetches but none to the adults ) were greeted warmly on Saturday at 6PM and seated right away. Don't know why this place is not rated higher but should be. Our bill with tip was $260 with one round of drinks.

We found this restaurant using the Zagat application for Iphone. The ratings were very good for a Cuban cuisine place, so we decide to drive there. So frustrating that the menu only have a Cuban sandwich and Ropa Vieja with rice and beans and Tortillas!!! The rest of the menu: Mexican. The complimentary appetizer was chips and salsa. The place looks more as a bar than as a restaurant.
