The food is good but the specials are overpriced. We used to enjoy a $5 corkage fee as their wine list is somewhat mediocre but they raised the corkage to $20. I don't mine ordering from their wine list but the selection and prices ruin the ambiance.

Great food, excellent service with homey, friendly atmosphere. Awesome pizza! Owner-chef John (Giovanni) is a cool character as are the rest of the wait-gang.

I've traveled to Malibu a number of times over the past two years, have driven by Giovanni's but never eaten there until this trip. Wish I'd gotten there sooner! To me, this place reminds me of eating in Italy - great food, very comfortable atmosphere - not trendy and cool - felt like some restaurants I've eaten at in Italy. The wait staff work well together, very professional, not pretentious or intrusive.

The food was really good, and although I know gnocchi is their specialty, I'm not a fan of gnocchi. We did order several kinds and the others in my group enjoyed that. What I think is really exceptional and a must if you eat here is their own creation, sacchetti. Little pasta purses filled w/black truffles and what else? I don't know. I don't care. This dish is unlike anything I've ever eaten. The flavors were so subtle and they practically melt in your mouth. Absolutely positively going back to Giovanni's for sacchetti.

We ordered tiramisu and canolli to share - both really really good. I love sweets, but I don't usually like tiramisu. I changed my mind about the tiramisu after tasting it at Giovanni's. Theirs has a chocolate sauce on the top rather than the shaved chocolate and/or cocoa powder on some other tiramisu. It was really really yummy.

One other little thing . . . we invited a friend to meet us at Giovanni's to enlist her help in planning a trip to Italy as she had lived there for a year. Our meal was not rushed; we had plenty of time to talk and could actually hear one another without shouting, and had a wonderful time hearing about Italy in a restaurant that felt a lot like being in Italy - all good.

If you find yourself along PCH anywhere near Malibu, go to Giovanni's! It's really a great place!
