Owner description: This place is temporarily closed due to a natural disaster. It will reopen in 2018. In the heart of the Canadian Rockies, less than an hour’s drive from either Calgary or Banff, visitors find a golfing paradise. Kananaskis Country Golf Course is one of the premier golf destinations in the Canadian Rockies and second to none as a spectacular location for a golf vacation. Forming an unforgettable landscape, the rugged surrounding mountains tower 10,000 feet (3,000 metres) above sea level, the courses themselves are at almost 5,000 feet (1,500 metres). Situated in the Kananaskis Valley among boreal forest, the Mount Lorette and Mount Kidd Courses are named for the soaring limestone peaks that serve as their breathtaking backdrop. The Courses offer immaculate lush fairways, bent grass greens, over 140 silica sand bunkers, four sets of tee boxes, glacier fed creeks and ponds, the cascading Kananaskis River and a variety of wildlife.

Not my first time golfing this track. I have done both courses in the past... I'm not good enough of a golfer to say this one is better or worse, I like both. Kidd has more Sand and Lorette has more water... but they both have plenty of each, it’s a great design that offers lots of challenges. Personally, I think what really matters about this course is the setting it is in. With the mountains leering overhead, the green vibrant colors and the crystal clear river and creeks winding their way throughout the course your breath is taken away. The scenery is exactly what makes the Rocky Mountains and Alberta so special. This course is considered a vacation destination (I completely agree) and what that means is you can book your tee-times months in advance. Also if you are local (Alberta driver’s license can be shown) you get a discount. There is no GPS on the carts nor are they mandatory. You can have a terrible golf game and yet here every hole you will take a step back and exhale and be blown away by the beautiful landscape. Also the service is amazing. From the included valet parking, to moving your clubs wherever they need to be to wiping them down after your game, they are all over it.

If your from Alberta, it's literally the only 18 hole golf course in the rockies under $100 in the summer. Both Mt. Kidd and Lorette are good courses, but Kidd books up faster. The views are world class, conditions great, and layout good. Playing over deer is not uncommon.

I would have one complaint on this course. The focus on "pace of play" is very aggressive, and can literally wreck your game. They have marshals timing you on every 4-5 holes. We were waiting on every hole for the group in front of us, and the marshal "that" day was so rude, giving us warnings and following right behind us!!!! Seemed he couldnt see us waiting as well on every hole. it distracted me from my enjoyment and bugged me! There are a lot of hackers on this course (which is fine)...but long rounds will be hard to avoid.

One of the worst rounds this season but it's likely that the beautiful surroundings were distracting. Got rained out after 13 holes but it was still a beautiful day. This is the best value for such a beautiful place to play golf.

We had a great round of golf at Kananaskis. The course is well run and well maintained and the scenery is incredible. There are two courses and we played Mt. Lorette. The course was challenging and a great deal of fun to play. We even got to see some wildlife dashing across the fairways! If you are a golfer, this is a great place to play - one of the best in Canada. The Delta Lodge at Kananaskis is only a few kilometers away.
