“breathtaking scenery and a great way to spend the day”
Reviewed September 3, 2012

we decided to take the 2 hour Ridge ride with steak lunch beforehand. the staff were friendly and attentive. the food was tasty even though it was fairly basic fare ( steak, baked potato, baked beans , cesaer salad and pie with ice cream) we then got paired up with our horses and with a few instructions, set off on our ride. there were 7 people in our group with one guide at the front - it was sometimes difficult to hear what she was saying although she made an effort to holler back to us everyonce in a while. after a long steep climb up the slopes we emerged onto an open clearing where you could see the majestic mountain ranges from all directions. our guide took several photo's of our group ( of 4 ) with the mountains in the background - these are some of our favourite photos of our 10 day western trip. the trail is very steep and narrow in places and I'm surprised that no one fell off their horses! fortunately, they were all very calm and sure footed even when they were manouvering down steep, rocky trails. we all enjoyed the afternoon and had a new found admiration for cowboys having to ride in a saddle for hours on end! it was a great way to spend a sunny day in the beautiful Kananaskis region of Alberta.

“Great experience!”
Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

We were on our honeymoon and did te 2hr ridge ride with a steak lunch & it was really great! My husband had never been on a horse and felt confident and assured with the help given. Conrad and Nolan were really helpful to let us know when the trail would get a bit tricky. The hot fire after was great to warm up with, the lunch was amazing and the staff was so helpful and kind! The highlight of our trip West!! Thanks!!!!

“2 Hours Too Long”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

We did the 2 hour ridge ride starting at 9:45 followed by lunch for $89. There were 13 of us in the group and no one was experienced. The only instructions that were provided when we started were how to get the horse to go left, right and stop. We were sent off after that. The horses do know what to do and they followed behind each other. There is a guide at the front and at the back. We were in the middle of the group and there was no conversation between anyone except for the guide at the front and the family right behind her. It would have been nice to hear some interesting facts about the ranch, the area, anything!

For us, the 2 hour ride was definitely too long and we were wondering when the trail would lead back to the ranch. If you have never done a trail ride, I would recommend the hour long ride first to see if you like it.

Lunch was good after, but we were just glad to be back at the ranch!

“Great ride!”
Reviewed August 14, 2012

We did the 2 hour ride at around 1 in the afternoon. Our guide was very knowledgeable and and helpful, and the horses were great! The scenic view of the mountains was incredible, I only wish that we saw more of them as after the first half hour or so we didn't see them again. The trail through the forest was nice too, very scenic and many hills!
Our two hour ride came to about $70 each.
Would definitely recommend this ranch!!

“Don't come here for the food”
Reviewed August 1, 2012

We were camping in Kananaskis and we decided to stop here for a meal on our way home.
It said to wait to be seated and we must have waited a few minutes before the staff acknowledged us. Took a very long time to get waited on and it wasn't busy. We ordered salsa and chips for an appetizer and it was just a small amount of store-bought salsa and a huge pile of chips. They were not very attentive and we had to keep asking them to re-fill our drinks. I ordered the soup and sandwich combo (lasagna soup and fajita wrap). The wrap was really delicious but the soup was terrible- like a frozen dinner but worse. No one came by to ask us how everything was. My spouse got the steak sandwich and she forgot to give him the bread. Also if you don't like to smell horses while you're eating don't eat outside.
