“Lovely Hotel With Many Amenities”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 29, 2013

Our party of six enjoyed our stay at the Lodge very much. It's comparable to a little village with many amenities, from a Post Office, to semi formal dining, to pubs, grills, and many little shops. And don't miss the walking trails that surround the Lodge, they give the most impressive views! In the centre of the village there's a huge pond with fish and a waterfall that's relaxing to sit and watch. You're also likely to see some wildlife during your stay.

What stands out most in my mind was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff....from the front desk to the Fireweed Grill. They couldn't be more helpful!

The only thing I wished I'd known in advance was the fact that the rooms are not air conditioned. Nor was the Fireweed Grill. It was very warm during our stay, so warm that we made the decision to eat outside. I'm sure the Lodge isn't air conditioned in an attempt to keep the feel of a rustic lodge. Not a big deal, and it wouldn't stop me from staying here again, but our party discussed the lack of air conditioning and felt it would have enhanced our stay.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Maybe next time we'll have an opportunity to take in some of the many guest activities that take place on a regular basis.

What great comments!! Thank you for sharing your experience.

We're pleased to hear that our staff wowed you with their friendliness and professionalism. We have an amazing team here in Kananaskis!

It is valuable to note that air conditioning would have enhanced your stay. We will be considering these types of suggestions during our upcoming renovations. In the meantime we hope you were able to enjoy refreshing, mountain air.

Again, we appreciate you taking the time to share the highlights your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back.

This hotel is really the only option you have if you want to stay in the heart of Kananaskis country without camping. Due to the fact that it is the only hotel in the park they can and do charge high prices for pretty much everything. The limited menu options become tiring as well if you stay for more that a couple of days and must eat every meal at their restaurants.
It is worth the stay in terms of location; there is tons to do in the area and the scenery is spectacular. The wildlife, such as deer, can be seen grazing just outside your room window. It is very family friendly as well. Kids are given a welcoming kit when they arrive that consists of board games, flashlight, and a couple of toys. There is an indoor kids centre that has a "treehouse" for climbing, a slide, tons of toys, puzzles, movies to watch, and arts & crafts. This comes in very handy when the weather isn't so nice. When the weather is nice of course there are all the walking trails (the village rim trail is paved and a very easy, beautiful walk that all people could do), the tennis courts, the baseball field, and large outdoor playground. The pool and indoor/ outdoor large hot tub are also a hit with the whole family. The pool provides life jackets for kids as well as flutter boards & pool noodles to play with.
The staff were super friendly and helpful with all of our requests. We appreciated that they treated our 3 year old as a person too; talking directly to her, asking about her day, and remembering her interests from day to day.
The room itself was quite big and perfect for our needs. The fridge was bigger than the standard minibar fridge so we were able to stock it with quite a bit of food so that we didn't need to rely on the hotel's restaurants for every meal.
The only problem we had with our stay was the air conditioning. The air conditioner didn't really cool the room and made the room very stuffy. It also made a very loud beeping sound, like an alarm clock, almost every hour on the hour, which kept us from sleeping. Rooms that have air conditioners don't have any windows to open for the cool, fresh mountain air so you are stuck relying on the air conditioner even if the weather is such that you wouldn't need it if you could just open a window.

Room Tip: Decide whether you want air conditioner or windows that open because you can't have both. Bring...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to share notes of your experience in Kananaskis. We appreciate all your great feedback about the Valley, and our many recreational options at the Lodge.

We have taken note of your comments regarding limited food and beverage offerings. With our many restaurant options, we seek to deliver outlets that cater to everyone's needs. We're pleased to share that we've recently acquired a new Executive Chef and look forward to seeing fresh, new alternatives.

Thanks also for your insight on our building's temperature control options. As we embark on exciting renovations property-wide we will keep your feedback in mind.

Hope to see you and your family back soon!

Kind regards,

Ammenities are wonderful and guest services are outstanding. When my husband and I checked in they gave my little girl a Kid's package - which she loved! When we checked out - they overheard an aquaintance and I disgusting our thirst. A gal ran and got us each a cold bottle of water for free. They are truly interested in our stay and ensuring we are having a good time. While their guest relations are excellent, I caution visitors about coming during the summer. The grounds are gorgeous, and they light bon fires at night that you can sit by/or relax by a waterfall and look at the stars framing the mountains; However, their idea of a comfortable sleep drastically needs improved. Our room was dated (sofa bed was unreasonably lumpy) and most importantly, we were in an UNairconditioned 3rd floor room with our 3 year old. The heat was stiffling. They say they do this for "environmental" reasons - however, I have a hard time believing this "stance" if different rooms across the hall from us were air conditioned and the MORE EXPENSIVE signature building AND lobbies were also air conditioned. It made our stay and sleep extremely uncomfortable and therefore, ultimately not worth the higher price we paid for the 1 night (approx $240) for a "premier" room (1 queen bed and a pull out couch). Definitely do visit, but take into account potential for extreme heat and perhaps "creatures of the forest" (we saw a bear just outside our room and also followed the Orkin man up the elevator. He disappeared into another guest's room - we did not see bugs in our room - but it caused us to wonder....).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with air conditioning if visiting in late July or August.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback on your stay. We appreciate all guest feedback as an opportunity to continuously improve our products and services.

We were sorry to hear that you were too warm in your room during your stay. This season we've been enjoying some beautiful weather, and only for a few short days do we find our guests are sometimes uncomfortable due to summer heat. We encourage our guests to enjoy the cool, mountain air by opening their windows during the evening. We try to offer the additional option of a few air conditioned rooms, particularly in the Signature Club.

We're glad that you witnessed our pest control partner on duty! We proactively maintain our property with routine pest control measures which includes regular spot inspections. We never know where "creatures of the forest" may turn up in this neck of the woods; it's good practice to ensure we're monitoring our facility. These procedures are actually a Delta standard.

We look forward to welcoming you back again soon!

Kind Regards,

Mandy McDonald

Thank you Angela for the outstanding service and for being so professional. You are a GEM! The minute I walked in the hotel I was greeted by the front staff with a great welcoming smile. Will at the front desk was so helpful and extremely professional. Our room in the Signature Club was the best and the kids were pleasantly surprised and happy that it was like a 5 star resort. David, the assistant manager of the spa went out of his way to arrange a fire for us behind the pool. What a treat to have smores by the nice cozy fire right after being in the pool. I highly recommend the Delta Lodge at Kananaskis and the kids liked the super comfortable bed. We will definitely come back to this beautiful place!

Room Tip: Please pay the extra and get upgraded to the Signature Club. It is super roomy and air conditioned.

We were on a motorcycle trip on hwy 40 got caught in a horrible storm. Went into the lodge and were greeted in the kindest manner and offered a towel (we were soaked). So impressed with the welcome greeting and were quickly set up with a room. We then went to woodys pub for a much needed drink...they were not open yet...the bar tender saw us outside and opened up early so we could come in and have a drink. Later went for dinner ...the service was outstanding!! Warm welcome from the hostess and the waiter checked on us regularly , no waiting for anything. Very wowed by the service over all.
The room was beautiful , incredible view , great shower and large deep bathtub ..super comfortable bed, very clean . This place is set in one of the most beautiful spots on earth. You can walk all around the grounds surrounded by incredible beauty in every direction.Funny I have been by before many times and never stayed . I will definately stay again and would recommend to anyone.

We had a great weekend away at the Delta. We booked the entire thing on airmiles, hotel room, and with gift cards for meals. If we would have had to had paid for the weekend I dont think it would have been worth it. The location is absolutely beautiful, and the fact that our dog was allowed was a huge plus. There are some positives, but there were also some negatives.

We loved Woody's pub, had some pub fare and a drink it was wonderful. We loved walking around the property and on the trails into the forest. The out door hot tub was pretty nice too.

We didn't really like the spa. They boast an outdoor hottub and a eucalyptus steam room. I assumed that it would be a private area for spa goers, but in fact this is open to the public. We did have great massages tho.

Also the rooms were HOT. It was warm during the day but it cooled off quite a big outside, but the rooms stayed hot and stuffy. Others were complaining about this too.

The hotel is a little out dated. To give them credit they do know this and have started a massive renovation project.. it is needed.

Fireweed grille, I would say is very overpriced for what you get. I don't mind paying for a good meal, but this just was not worth the money.

Some of the servers really put us off, we went to get a cocktail before dinner, and we had the RUDEST and SLOWEST waitress ever. Put us in a pretty bad mood for our fancy dinner that we had later.

However, the fancy restuarant Grappa is amazing and definitely worth the money.

Room Tip: Rooms are hot. SIgnature Club has air conditioning.

My husband, two daughters and I recently stayed at the Delta Kananskis. Upon arrival we asked for a room upgrade and were granted one free of charge...nice start. the rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff that we had interactions with were all fantastic and extremely friendly.

Somehow, I left my cell phone there. When we called, a wonderful woman named Shawny from housekeeping found it and offered to bring it to Calgary that night since she was going to be there meeting a friend. That is, by far, the most exceptional service I have ever received!

We would stay there again in a heartbeat...and were sorry to only have one night there.
