I love this park and make a point to visit every time I am in the area!! Don't miss it! This fabulous park has great hiking trails right on the ocean cliffs with tide pools to explore.

Too many good things to say about this campsite, if you love good beaches, space between you and city life and lots of nature, this is great place to go. It is better than the two other Morro Bay camp sites in my opinion. Get ready for an amazing star show at night too. We came here once (so far) and will be back annually I think. If you like camping you have to try it. Things to consider if you are sensitive to some camping issues. There is poision oak in the area so you cannot simply walk off into the bushes without some expectation of problems, also the toliets are not plumbed as most are. Water supply is by tank feed at various locations. If you need something the road back to town is about 10 minutes or so. Enjoy.

We spent two nights camping at Montana de Oro State Park and loved it. It's in the town of Los Osos which is off the beaten track for most traveling up highway 1. It's very close to Morro Bay and Cayucas and that's where most people stop for a visit but I recommend veering off highway 1 by about 10 miles to go to Montana de Oro State Park. It has a beautiful, uncrowded and unspoiled beach, lots of hiking trails, and a small museum that was the main house on the property in the late 1800s. It has expansive views of the ocean, and Morro Bay, and is an out of the way treasure of a park. For anyone who wants to go off the beaten track, it's well worth it!

There are campsites for RVs and tents if you want to spend the night - you can reserve online for a fee.

From the eucalyptus tree forest (at least that is what I think they are) to the pebble beach this is an awesome park! If you are planning to camp make reservations early... Found a trail to an area where people were surfing and also had awesome tide pools with starfish, sea anenomes, and tons of little crabs. Hiked the bluff trail above the ocean and found a little secluded beach. Warning about the pebbly beach- pebbles can be painful so bringing water shoes might be helpful! Highlight of the drive on hwy 1. (and no charge for day use!!)
