This was just a great place to hike; amazing scenery, good parking and easy access. There is not an unscenic walk in the place.

“Hiking Above the Ocean”

We hiked open hillsides and the dunes along the beach. Lovely vistas up and down the coast, but if it's hot, know there's absolutely no shade.

“A true treasure”

Wonderful trails and some of the best vistas in the country. Facilities need a little work but that is a minor draw back. The price is right, it is free.

“Breath taking views- Anytime~ especially @Sunset”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 9, 2012

I fell in love with Montana De Oro from the very first time I went. I moved to Los Osos because I could be close to it. As you cruise up the mountain you will have amazing view of the ocean and extensive and impressive sand dunes. Next, you will drive through the canopy of giant Eucalyptus trees. Finally, you will arrive at the crescent moon bay, where the sun dances on the water in the day time, the moon streams across it in the evening, and the sunset makes a most amazing colorful display. There are many different hikes, as well as horse trails. You can relax on the stoney shore and jump in the little waves, or just sit on a blanket on one of the many cliffs and sip wine while enjoying the view. ITis a MUST DO if you ever come to the Central Coast. You will not regret it (just make sure you dont go on a foggy day so that you can see all that I am talking about).

“My favorite playground”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

Day hikes, trail runs, camping...this is my favorite play spot. Unfortunately, no dogs allowed but still a great place to enjoy a fun workout with breathtaking natural surroundings. Trails are very well maintained, but watch out for poison oak.
