Stolpman is one of my favorite wineries in California. They specialize in syrah, which just happens to be my favorite red wine. Year in, year out their Stolpman "Hilltops Syrah" is one of the best syrahs made in California's Central Coast. The extended barrel-aged "Angeli" (100% syrah aged in barrel for over 3 years) is pricey, but delicious. Also give the sangiovese a try while you're there. Stolpman grows this Italian grape on their estate and they do a good job with it, making a decidely Californian version of a Chianti. Another wine to try is the 100% Rousanne called "LaAvion." Generally there's a touch of Viognier added, but it's still amost entirely rousanne. Robert Parker of The Wine Advocate called it one of the 2 or 3 best white wines made in California.
