We have been to Centonove twice in the past month. There have been some hits and a few misses in service and food during each of our visits. But overall, Centonove has been very good and we will return in the near future.
The restaurant is small and cozy. Formerly part of the Los Gatos Coffee Roasting Company, the owners have done an amazing job of carving out a warm and comfortable restaurant. There is an open kitchen with counter seating if you like to watch the chefs in action. A bar, with nice seats. And, dining area with both standard restaurant seating and some high top tables.
The staff is very friendly, knows the menu well and are able to give honest and accurate suggestions on the menu.
For the most part, the food is very good. Last night four of us started with one soup and three different salads. The only disappointment was the beet salad which was just plainly bland. Entrees included two pasta bolognese orders, the salmon special and the weekly Saturday special of a stuffed pork chop. All were very good. For dessert we had the tiramisu and an order of the Spumoni gelato, all delicious.
Centonove has a nice wine list that is reasonably priced.
While our server was very friendly and enthusiastic, we often had to flag her down and remind her of items she had forgotten to bring to our table. This very similar to our previous dining experience at Centonove with a different server.
But overall, Centonove is a very nice addition to downtown Los Gatos dining. I would highly recommend.
