“Chic boutique hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 27, 2012

What a nice surprise! This is a great boutique hotel in downtown Los Gatos. Rooms are spacious. Decor is Spanish, very up to date and well maintained. The best part is the service - they bend over backwards to make your stay the best. Especially Brandon and Jason. Will be back to stay again!

This hotel makes for a wonderful retreat in a less populated area in northern California. It has outstanding rooms, but they vary so make sure you ask questions at the time of reservations. Try to get into the second building which surrounds a beautiful pool. Many good restaurants close by including the one at the hotel, though the $10 buffet is not worth the price.

Room Tip: Ask a lot of questions re view, size and your needs. There is a lot of variation from room to room...

The Hotel Los Gatos is a beautiful hotel of 19th century Italian architecture and decoration. We spent five nights over Thanksgiving. We were first placed in a standard room in the rear. The room was small and overlooked construction. After the first night we transferred to a junior suite king room. It was huge (404 sq ft), beautifully decorated, had an automatic gas fireplace and a balcony.

Breakfasts were very good and in a section of the hotel dining room. We would go to the dining room and bring back food to breakfast to have on our balcony. The dining room is considered one of the finer upscale restaurants in Los Gatos. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is across the street from the high school. It is a about a half mile walk to the downtown.

In short, if you stay in one of the suites, it can be a great experience. For a standard double, there are better choices in Los Gatos. Also, inquire about ongoing construction behind the hotel.

Room Tip: Value excellent for large rooms only. Avoid rooms overlooking construction.

Rooms are reasonably large and very well appointed. It is not a luxury hotel but everything from the lobby to the room interior shines and staff is very courteous and helpful . Free outdoor and underground parking, free wifi in rooms. Note that this hotel is located at the south end of silicon valley, which is a bit far from major companies.

For an upscale hotel it isn't the Ritz but on its way. New ownership should pay attention to the scratchy towels, that there is no place for the duvet to go when removed from the bed, and paint touch up. The cabinet that the flat screen tv is in won't stay open so you have to prop it up. Only black out curtains which means that they are open or closed without anything in between. Staff was very well presented, respectful and very helpful. Daily papers are usual in an upscale hotel where you pay over $175 a night (on the special). The xeroxed channel page indicates that HBO is available, but it is not. The wireless system is easy access but unsecured. The continental breakfast is very adequate and staff very nice. We would stay there again but we do check the rates.

Room Tip: Get a room upstairs in the pool area in the back. Its the quietest.

I stayed here for one night while interviewing with Netflix at their Los Gatos offices.

The first thing you'll notice is the beautiful architecture. Such a cool looking hotel and atmosphere. Parking was a bit tight in the garage, but it a was a such a short walk to the lobby, it didn't matter all that much.

The room I had was pretty nice, but nothing crazy.

Very nice front desk - I woke up in the morning and realized I had forgotten some toothpaste. I go up to the front desk and ask if there is any sort of gift shop that I could buy some toothpaste at. As quick as I can ask, someone goes back behind the desk and gets me a tube. Fantastic service.

Stayed on the 2nd. floor in the back which was very quiet. Very comfy rooms, bathroom. Decorated Tuscan style. Would definetly go back. Continental breakfast from 7-10 w/ eggs, biscuits, sweets, bagels, cereal. Got there at 9:30 - out of eggs, but offered to make. Staff did not return for the 6:00 turn down, since we mentioned for them to come back to 10 min. Nice restaurant Dio Deka on property, which has a lovely bar and very dining experience.

Room Tip: Quiet rooms in back away from pool and mail street.
