“been here many times”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2012

Love castle rock. Take a short hike with kids to the rock itself with a picnic. The kids can spend hours clambering, You can spend hours working up the courage to go home and sign up for a rock climbing class if you aren't one of the people who is already up on the rock.
Take the longer hike the the look out. Not hard to do, always rewarding. Still good with kids and you can get the unexpected bonus of watching rockclimbers rappel down the sheer wall next to the water fall from the comfort of a sturdy deck.
Be careful on warmer weekends. the lot fills up quickly. Call ahead as recently C. rock was slated for seasonal state closure due to budget cuts.

“Gorgeous hike”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 11, 2011

Went on a 5.8 mile hike, the views are amazing. We arrived around 11:00 on a cool December Sunday and there was free parking available, there is some paid parking if that part is full. We hiked to the campground and back, making it 5.8 miles round trip, took us a bit over 2 hours at a nice pace. There is a bit of rock climbing involved, but fine as long as you're in reasonable shape. Bathroom by parking area and again by the campground, also two picnic tables if we bring a picnic along. The hike is well marked and the trails well maintained. Very enjoyable.
