“Comfy hotel with killer Customer service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Stayed 3nights on a biz trip. They only had one room available when I arrived (though I booked a week in advance). Lucky for me the room was a deluxe, poolside king room and they gave it to me, no extra charge (not that I would have paid it anyway, lol).
It was clean, and though it was obvious some renovations had been done to bring it up to a more modern feel, it did not appear to be a cheap reno, as some reviewers have mentioned.

The staff went out of their way on every occasion to make me comfortable and were helpful in sorting a few things out for me with a package, a trip to Malibu, and the happy hour at the nice little bar attached to the restaurant.

My only complaint was that one of the elevators was down upon my arrival. It was pretty much beside my room and the workers started fixing it at 7 am, making a lot of noise.

Oh, and the bowel's of granny smith apples everywhere were such a treat.

Stayed one night in August 2013 with my wife while on a business trip. We chose the hotel because of its Tripadvisor rating and proximity to clients. The hotel Orlando appears to have been recently renovated and the room décor is modern. Our room (532) was very quiet, clean and had a very, very comfortable bed. The robes, slippers, and upscale toiletries are a nice touch. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The location to local attractions and restaurants as referenced by the other reviewers is a big plus. This hotel has earned its Tripadvosor rating but our tastes for a boutique hotel are a bit more traditional than that offered by the Orlando.

Room Tip: Our room 532 was on the backside of the hotel and was very quite.

Stayed at The Orlando recently, great hotel, very friendly staff, excellent sized rooms. Pool was small, but enough to cool off. Lots of small details had been thought of. The Churchill great place to chill out after sight seeing. The Grove, Farmers Markets & Beverly Centre all very close & only a $10 taxi ride to Sunset Blvd. W3 Street, very trendy lots of great cafes Joans & Toast & small boutique shops. Loved the juice bar at the front of the hotel. Would def stay here again, almost felt residential rather than touristy, perfect for LA! Thanks Orlando we had a great stay.

Stayed here for two nights last mont in a patio room. The building itself is uninspiring and even ugly from the outside, but I loved the location in a very walkable area of LA with lots of interesting shops and eateries nearby. My patio room was great - spacious, comfortable and clean (my only plea is that someone please show some love to the poor sad plant on the concrete prison of a balcony; if someone just repotted it, watered it and gave it a trellis to grow on it would transform what is currently a concrete bunker into a charming private courtyard not to mention giving some life back to what looks like a long suffering unstaked vine in a too-small pot).

Hotel staff were lovely.

My only complaint (and it is not insignificant) is the room service supposedly provided by the concession restaurant downstairs, I tried three times to order room service dinner on a Thursday night; twice I was put on hold for more than 10 minutes (on the second occasion I had pleaded with them not to put me on hold, before they did just that), and once I was hung up on 9ithey told me they were too busy). They knew I was an inhouse guest too. I was pretty unimpressed.

There are plenty of restaurants in this area but sometimes in a 4-5 star aspiring hoel you want room service, and you don't expect to be treated like a piece of dirt by the inhouse restaurant when attemting to do so.

It would have been four stars if not for the poor room service.

Hotel was alight... it tries to be boutique but the hotel/rooms was just average. My room had a terrace going out to the pool - WiFi was poor in room and I often had to sit outside to get online. Not sure if it was the old design but I could hear everything next door, from the snoring to the alarm.

The staff was the highlight at this hotel, very friendly and helpful. Location was also great and it was next door to a few nice restaurants.

I stayed recently at the The Orlando and it exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in I was met with huge smiles, friendliness, and the ultimate in hospitality. The staff went out of their way to ensure you knew that you mattered and where always there with a vast amount of knowledge to ensure I had an amazing experience in and out of the hotel. On arrival I was upgraded to a beautiful room on the top floor with a pretty view of the pool, the room was quite large in size and all the furnishings, sleek, new, indulgent and comfortable...and the bed amazing! not sure where they get their sheets from but it was like silk upon my skin, so indulgent it was almost sinful! Bathroom beautifully designed and clean and a pretty good size. All the staff where amazing and extremely helpful and polite from the cleaners to the management. Location is awesome, so close to everything and pretty easy to get around from, lots of great restaurants, cafes, bars and so much shopping all within walking distance. Pool area was quite nice and the pool heated! perfect for those later evening swims, its not a big pool but it is a perfect size to just enjoy in. Gym area quite clean with good equipment. I really enjoyed my stay, the attention to detail, awesome location, awesome staff and will definitely be staying here again, in fact whenever I am to be in the area this will be my home away from home :).. Thank you to The Orlando Hotel .

Enjoyed a recent stay with my husband and daughter at The Orlando. We arrived early and our room was ready. Front desk staff was the ultimate in hospitality! Furnishings are sleek, there are fresh apples in bowls throughout for a quick snack, location is prime - lots of bars, restaurants and shopping within an easy walk. Pool was small, but had plenty of comfortable loungers and a canopy area. We booked a room with two beds. Arrived to a king with a pull-out sofa, but we made it work.
