“very friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2006

We had a very pleasant stay. Walking distance from everything. The hotel is old, the kitchen cabinets were old (we had a suite), but everything was very neatly painted. And it was very (and I mean very!) clean. The bed slept excellent.

Staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful. We came with 3 kids (4,2 and 1 year old) and they lent us a book: Visiting LA with a stroller. Such a nice gesture. They loaded us with advice for places going for diner, how to use the metro etc. And when I asked the closest store for buying milk in the evening (the two youngest drink milk before going to bed, and we hadn’t found a store on our way back to the hotel) the staff said it was too far to walk and offered us milk from their kitchen. They were so helpful! Also when we went to the pool the kids got a popsicle. And also, we really got there early (before noon) but it was no problem to check in, what was really a blessing when you’re traveling with 3 small kids.

We loved the breakfast. Being Europeans it was so nice not to get eggs and sausages but really good muffins, bread and toast. And the whole day there was fresh fruit and iced water (with cucumber) in the lobby available.

We would definitely recommend this hotel.

My boyfriend and I booked a double room at the Magic Castle, for our week long trip to LA in June 06.

When we arrived we found we had a *huge* suite. The staff were absolutely lovely, friendly and funny and very attentive. It had a great pool, a laundry room, and tasty breakfast was available every morning.

The suite was great, complete with a good sized kitchen and balcony. The only slight let down was the bathroom, which could have done with a lick of paint, and the carpets could have done with a bit of a clean, but generally it was excellent, and extremely good value for money.

The customer service at the hotel was really good, they left Hersheys kisses next to the bed every day, and in the evenings left us a card with the next days weather forecast on so that we'd be prepaped. The staff always had time to listen to you, and were full of suggestions and recommendations.

The hotel is in a great location, just next to the walk of fame, right in the centre of Hollywood. I really can't recommend it enough.

One night we went for dinner at the Magic Castle club, which is next door, and while it is a beautiful building, and the magic shows were spectacular, the food was overpriced and not very nice. I'd recommend going for the shows, but definitely not for dinner.

Our "junior suite" turned out to be a spacious one-bedroom apartment with full kitchen, lots of closet space, and many extras and suprises. Two chocolate cakes and some gifts awaited us in our kitchen when we checked in , courtesy of the hotel (we were celebrating our 2 children's birthdays). Staff was unbelievably friendly and helpful. This place is an amazing value, especially considering its location in Hollywood, just walking distance from major attractions. This is a great place for families. We will definitely go back next time we are in L.A.

Yes, the hotel is friendly, clean and centrally located, but what they reallly need to do is get some good painters and plasterers in there to touch up some of the crumbling walls. Service was excellent.

My husband, daughter aged 17, son aged 14 and myself stayed here for the first 3 days of September 2006. On arrival we were greeted with a glass of iced lemonade. The suites are generous and open onto a pool. The room rate is reasonable and includes a buffet continental breakfast. There was fruit and iced water available all the time. What impressed me most was the helpful and caring Front Desk staff. Noneof them could have been more helpful or charming and they all went out of there way to offer help, advice and takeway menus! We had a super end of vacation stay here and I would definately stay here again. The location on the road parallel to the Road of Stars is ideal and a Metro is just 5 minutes stroll away and one stop from Universal Studios.

I found the Magic Castle Hotel on the internet. I stayed there for three nights with my husband, my sister, and my nephew. For my nephew's 16th birthday, I bought him a ticket to come from Ireland to CA. It was his first visit to this country. All four of us absolutely loved the hotel -- location was great. My nephew loved Hollywood Blvd... We loved the proximity to everything. The suite was spacious and clean and right beside the pool. In addition to all that, we absolutely loved the staff. They knew it was my nephew's birthday trip, so they had a birthday cake and card waiting for him when we arrived. They called him by name. They could not have been more helpful with directions, rental car, you name it. I stay in hotels a lot, and I'm pretty picky. I have never, ever found a more friendly staff in any hotel anywhere in the world. They really did treat us like family. I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else in LA. Full marks.

This hotel is amazing. It is a small old fashioned boutique hotel with the best of everything - not in terms of glitz and glamour - in terms of the things that really matter. The suites are roomy, modern, clean, and comfortable and have every amenity you need. The beds were great too! There was enough room to stay for weeks; in fact it was like a small apartment. The pool and layout of the hotel is perfect and makes you feel like you are in a community. The location is great if you want to walk around Hollywood and do the tourist stuff. Walk up to the Hollywood Bowl and see the museum there. It's interesting. The unique and plentiful breakfast was delicious and great way to start the day - sitting at the pool and eating fresh baked goodies. There is parking under the hotel for a reasonable price and it is easy. But the absolute best thing about this hotel hands down is the staff. From the minute I spoke to Gretchen on the phone to book the room until the second we said we left and Mike and his staff said goodbye - all of them were amazing! They deserve a customer service award. Even my two teenage boys could not get over how helpful the staff was about everything. And always pleasant with a smile and a friendly attitude. As my boys put it " Mike is the Man". They were very impressed. Oh yes, and don't miss the view from the restaurant on top of the hill above the Castle - also one of their properties. The food was great there too! I would go back to LA just to stay at the Castle again. Enjoy!!
