“Great location to universal studios”

Stayed here in March 2013, after moving from a previous hotel in LA (that's another story...). Upon arrival the staff were extremely friendly and when we experienced problems with the beds feeling damp, they quickly upgraded our room higher up. We managed to get free wifi throughout our week long stay, along with breakfast and access to the lounge for free refreshments.

The breakfast selection was great and it was extremely handy that you could visit the lounge for free cookies, drinks and snacks later in the day. We certainly took advantage of that!

Room was always kept to a clean high standard and the concierge was helpful with restaurant recommendations/activities to do.

Upon check out, we were also not charged for the car park, saving us $20 a day, I think!

The hotel has a great location to universal city walk/studios, which has plenty of choice of restaurants when you're feeling lazy and do not want to travel into central LA.

Just returned from a Girl's Weekend Getaway and the service was AMAZING! Every staff member was so kind and helpful! When checking in we were offered a glass of wine! When they asked if we were celebrating anything special, I explained that it was for my 50th Birthday! They upgraded our room, comp'd us 2 free in room movies, gave us Club level access and free breakfast buffet one morning! The waiters even brought a chocolate lava cake and sang to me! Excellent service all around!! Max was awesome, Fernando also!! Thank you for a trip of a lifetime!!

Although the hotel is old it is still nice. In our room, we couldn't get the room cool enough so we used the fan which was in the closet. Obviously we weren't the first guests to have this issue.
We used the Club Room happy hour and breakfast and both were pretty good. I stayed at a different chain last month and we got free beer/wine for happy hour but here you had to pay for each. Also, the sheets were very coarse. Have they never used softner when they dry them? It was as if they were starched which made them uncomfortable. Other than that, the place was nice and the staff from check-in, to the bartender, to the servers in the bar and in the club, they were all professional. thx

My family and I stayed here with friends as part of a visit to Universal Studios Hollywood, and other than the pool being under repair (which we likely wouldn't have had time for anyway!), we had a great experience. Staff we're very friendly, the concierge was able to get reservations at a CityWalk restaurant that had told us they didn't take reservations, and the rooms were plenty comfortable. It's not fancy but really doesn't need to be - it's all you need!

Last hotel of our tour. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room although needs updating, was clean and comfortable. Ideally located for Universal Studios, although a shuttle is provided we chose to walk which takes about 10 minutes. Also easy access to the Metro if you wish to visit the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The pool is at present under renovation, but the staff pointed this out to us on arrival. We did not eat in the restaurant so cannot comment on the food. Enjoyed our short stay here - would we stay there again - definitely.

I've read some of the negative reviews for this property and fortunately did not have the same experience.

Starting off, the location is great if you are going to Universal. The park (as well as the "downtown" area) is within walking distance. Or if you are lazy, there's a shuttle that comes every 10-15 minutes. Either way, it's very convenient.

The entrance to the hotel and the lobby make it feel upscale...something you'd expect from a Westin (in general, I see a trend where Sheraton is catching up quickly to Westin and in many cases exceeding the brand). Very large, modern lobby.

The staff was all very friendly. When the Concierge overheard me talking to my kids about going to Universal, he told me we could just get tickets there and avoid the hassle of standing in line. He also gave us quite a few recommendations on other attractions in the LA area that were family friendly.

The gym, located on the lowest level, is very nice as well...large and spacious, again, exceeding expectations.

The three things I'd want to see improved to make this a 4...and all seem to be very easy to fix (and two of them are being addressed)...

1) The WiFi was very spotty, but they acknowledged this and were in the process of an upgrade across the hotel.
2) The pool was closed and under construction. So not sure what it will look like, but there is plenty of space and they are advertising that it will be very modern and family friendly.
3) The SPG Lounge was disappointing. We went for breakfast and there was no main entree...it was all fruit, breads and cereal. Used to having at least eggs and sausage / bacon. Also, they keep the sodas in the back, you have to ask for one in the morning...again, not a fan of this.

Overall, I'd stay here again and probably will as we had a very nice trip.

This is an expensive hotel. We expected this hotel to be upmarket and we were very disappointed.
A few of the staff members are very aloof and quite rude. We has booked adjoining room plus one other in August for our holiday in April. We were told that that was a request we were not guaranteed this. We had to book adjoining rooms as we were told at the time of booking that we could not get 5 in a room. At check in we were told we could have a roll away. We eventually got the room requested after some negotiation. We then went to our room to discover NO fridge mini or otherwise. The bathroom was so small that you had to shut the door to go to the toilet and there was no way two people could be in the space set the same time. Then on going to bed the linen had holes in it and was stained. We spent the day at Universal Studios and when we returned back to the room to have a shower before going out to dinner to discover house keeping did not leave us towels. Two requests later the towels were delivered - at 11.30 that night ( we did not get to shower before dinner!)
The room Was not clean. We found a pillow case and washer on the floor and a charger belonging to a guest as well as lollie wrappers.
This hotel is not worth the money.
