Situated in Westlake area, convenient & easy access to most areas including shopping areas & railway station.
Cost $284 for 3 nts (all inclusive), continental breakfast included - very reasonably priced for LA.
Area definitely not up-market but did not feel threatened or vulnerable.
Room was very adequate - spacious - m/wave & other usual facilities. Value for money.
Staff were friendly & helpful - will book sight-seeing tours, taxis etc - very obliging.
No restaurants near by - need to travel to other areas or dine before returning to hotel.

Room Tip: Queen room more spacious

Just returned from a trip which included 3 nights at this hotel, felt a bit uneasy when the taxi driver seemed suprised when we told him where we were staying.
Hotel staff friendly and check in no problem, added bonus of breakfast included in the price. Rooms very poor standard, dirty walls and unpleasant damp smell in corridors. Sheets clean but comforters stained and with burn marks. Our room was on the ground floor with open access to the street.
Didnt feel comfortable going out of the hotel, really rough area, down and outs every few yards, just lying in the streets sometimes half naked. Braved getting on the bus one day, soon got off when a fellow passenger was waving a syringe around.
Nowhere decent to eat in local viccinity, definetely not a holiday location. Thank goodness we were lucky enough to move on to San Francisco and Las Vegas where the hotels were fabulous.

Stayed here because I wanted an 'affordable' hotel near downtown and it had free wi-fi.

Pros: near downtown, easy freeway access, average continental breakfast, room was clean and bug-free, staff was friendly and courteous.

Cons: wi-fi was rarely available and was slower than dial-up and dropped often when it was (don't count on it unless you go to the lobby), very sketchy neighborhood (you won't be walking anywhere), people smoking pot in the parking lot and adjacent room all 3 nights I was there (not your average business travelers).

Bottom line: In my opinion, if you're used to a hotel room that you're eager to return to at the end of your day, then you should plan to pay the $300/night rate for the big name franchises in downtown or stay out west from downtown. If all your looking for is a bed and a gritty, urban setting doesn't phase you, than I'm sure this place will be suitable and is probably average to above average for comparable 'affordable' hotels in the downtown area.

Thank you for your review. Fantastic location and value are a few of our strong suits and we are pleased you enjoyed these perks. We apologize that the area was not what you had expected and for the inconsistent Wi-Fi service you experienced. We value our guests’ concerns as equally as their compliments and will keep your notes in mind as we continue to improve. We would love to have you back for another visit.

We stayed here two weeks ago.
It was a little surprising to find this inn was actually a little further out than advertised. When we arrived they receptionist was lovely to allow us to check in a little earlier.
When we entered our room we were taken back to the 70s. Facilities were aged and very small.
We had read previous reviews and they were negative but we thought we'd give it a go. However our first night wasn't so good. Shower did not work. Only provided hot water so having a scolding shower was not fun after a long flight. Then outside our door on level 2 there was commotion outside our room. YellIng. This went on the next time too. The area does not seem safe at night. The inn has all entrances open all day and night which is a concern as there are a number of 'undesirables' that just hang in the area. Also mornings are loud with cleaners and hotel workers yelling across at each other. There was also not enough parking when you got back in the evening. All parking was taken and we had to park elsewhere.
On the upside they gave a great breakfast. Waffles, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, muffins.
I suggest stay in the inn if you are in town for a short period of time because there are nicer and central places that may offer a better stay.

I was relieved to find a Comfort Inn so close to Downtown Los Angeles, while travelling with my high school aged daughter on college visits. The property was well kept. Staff was excellent. Complimentary breakfast was as expected. We had no reservations, so we walked in. The front desk clerk summoned a housekeeper to show us 2 rooms. Since I had been shopping other hotels near the USC campus, I had a room rate in mind. The room rate of $116 was matched. Room amenities included a small refrigerator and microwave oven, which was perfect for our needs. We stayed on the third floor away from the elevator and stairs, so I felt quite safe (a deal breaker for a mom & daughter team). The hotel is located on a busy street, with a high school and grade school across the street, lots of retail store fronts and apartments line the street, so it's kind of loud. I did get surprised with a couple of small extra charges on our bill in addition to occupancy tax: 1) tourism levy & 2) saft w/td warrenty. We didn't use the safe, nor did I even know it was there.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the street have balcony's - view of inner city (store front, schools, rooftops), but feel a little roomier. Rooms away from the street overlook residential apartments, back yards, ect..
