“Ice cream sandwiches, cookies, Hawaiian shaved ice ... need I say more!”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

Reasonably priced ice cream, $1.00 Hawaiian ice, .... a real find. Be prepared for a line, but it moves fast. Only drawback ... limited parking, but then again, so is all of LA. All the locals know of this diamond in the rough. Hope this is helpful, and enjoy it as much as I do ...

“Sweet Tooth Heaven”
Reviewed September 2, 2013

If you love ice cream sandwiches and are in the Westwood area, Diddy Riese is a great place to go, provided you can stand standing in line. We went around 9:30 on a Sunday evening, well before the start of the fall semester at UCLA, and the line went around the corner and then halfway down the block. Everyone around us agreed it was the longest line they had seen, but no one left. The guy behind us said he just came for a snack before bed. Thankfully, there were plenty of people behind the counter, so the line kept moving at a fast enough pace to keep us motivated. It felt a little chaotic inside the store, with many customers ordering and the people behind the counter having to move back and forth from the cookie side to the ice cream side (how about keeping the cookies above the ice cream?). We ordered vanilla with peanut butter cookies, and butter pecan with white chocolate macadamia cookies. Two scoops of ice cream set between two cookies... They came with wrappers and were set into cups. For $1.75 each, what a sweet deal!

“Diddy Riese - UCLA campus”
Reviewed August 28, 2013

This little shop on the UCLA campus is worth the stop. There is always a line, and they even have ropes to organize the queue. It's a cash only business, and parking is tough to find. If you find a metered spot, take it! 15-30 minutes is all you need to satisfy your sweet tooth. Cookies are $0.35 each with 10 varieties to choose from. Sometimes there are bags of day old cookies for $2 or $2.50 (I think). The sweetest treat is their ice cream sandwich for $1.75. You choose your cookies (you can pick 2 different or the same) and your ice cream. There were 12 different flavors of Dreyers ice cream. They serve it in a cup so grab a spoon if you're a neat or slow eater. It's super rich, but soooo good!!

“Quite simply, THE BEST!!”
Reviewed August 14, 2013

My wife and I went here the first time back in 2005. When we returned to Los Angeles last month, I couldn't wait to go back. This place is awesome!! The cookies and ice cream both taste so fresh. Not your typical supermarket ice cream sandwich. And at only $1.75 for the sandwich, you can't beat it. Be sure to go at an off hour, otherwise you may wait in line for an hour (no exaggeration) If I lived or worked in the area, I'd be here weekly. It is definitely a can't-miss if you're in the area. Enjoy!!!

“Not impressed”
Reviewed August 10, 2013

I decided to try Diddy Riese Cookies and see what was the fuzz about this place and I was not impressed.
I don't understand why people wait outside for those cookies.
They make good average cookies. You can find this quality somewhere else, where you won't have to wait.
The service was bad. I put 3 stars for the price ($2 for 6 cookies is a good deal).
For the other french that would like to try: the white chocolate chips tasted like very low quality chocolate you can find in France.
