Check-in was slow after a long 14 hr journey from scotland staff very sad , Never had smiles in their faces -- I appreciated this very busy hotel but if you don't like your jobs get out Hilton deserve better and you have spoiled my family's experience ,Conference held on the day we arrived very office like experience I booked this hotel for a vacation not to feel like I was at a works seminar?. Music playing in the lobby was very relaxing . We opted for the self-parking which was $20 vs the valet which was $25, not much of a difference. The parking area looked safe & well-lit. The room we got was big but dated but clean. My only tiny comment would probably air freshener update room and its not required it smelt bad,My daughter (who's 12 old) said upon opening the door to the room, "why does the room smell weird mom?". The smell was musky, more like what old perfume smell , There wasn't drinks within the room ? My wife wanted walk around universal city one night you can find choices of cuisine to your liking. Bathroom was clean & well-stocked. Over-all stay was poor and should have been a great start to a special holiday in the USA , Check-out was poor got overcharged for breakfast that desk had told me was included it was well worth the money but left poor taste in the mouth, staff in breakfast area demanding money due to staff error we went to universal VIP so did not even need breakfast ?? Will definitely return to universal but not to this hotel would not recommend,we spent big bucks and got poor poor service,

Dear Guest,

We are very disappointed to hear about the issues you faced during your stay with us. Family vacations should be made of memories not traveling issues. As a AAA Four Diamond hotel, this is not the kind of service we like to provide our guests. We would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you so we may discuss your stay in more detail. Thank you for your feedback and bringing this to our attention. We hope you will consider staying with us the next time you travel to the Los Angeles area.

We picked this location due to its access to both Universal Studios and Hollywood. Both were very easy to get to. Universal Studios was less than a 10 minute walk. From there we could easily go to City Walk for dinner and to the park. The Metro stop to Hollywood is only a 5 minute walk (though steep downhill so coming home is harder) and then the Metro ride was very easy. The rooms were nice & clean. Our only complaint is you had to pay for internet- which we chose not to do. We'd stayed at lower cost hotels during this trip and they all had free internet. Based on our reviews, we "lucked out" and ended up on the 4th floor. We didn't have the views, but we also didn't need to take the elevators, we could walk down to the lobby one floor below.

My boyfriend and I stayed one night at this hotel because my best friend's wedding reception was held here. I'm originally from the LA area, so I never stayed in a hotel near Universal City. I was impressed by the quality of the room, and the comfort of the bed and pillows. We didn't have a view since we were on the lobby level, but my friend's bridal suite had a fantastic view, and was fairly big. Ballroom was also very spacious and the food was excellent (Chinese buffet-style).

I rate this hotel about 4.5/5, but i absolutely love it and still talk about! I stayed with my boyfriend, however my friend and sister were also staying there as well. It's great if your main concern is universal and Hollywood. Its a about a block away from Universal Studios, just have to cross the bridge and the street. Hollywood BLVD with great clubs and tourist attractions are just a 10 min metro away. No little gas stations or shops outside the hotel though, as it is located right beside the park on the hill so gas stations/pharmacies were a walk down and around a few blocks, with nothing open 24 hours. Metro was just down the hill very easy to access a little tricky to navigate at first considering we didnt realize there was an underground train (blonde moment)

Wifi in the lobby was kind of slow, wifi is paid for per day per device which is quite common now. Garage parking with in and out privileges was reasonable (20/day) compared to plenty places in LA. very convenient for afternoon naps after heat and the busy-ness of the park.
The suite we got was excellent. A little dated but lots of room, a little tub, decent size tv, a king sized bed, the most amazing pillows and a large presidential desk. The regular rooms weren't too bad: double beds and a decent size.
The hotel itself is gorgeous and feels very modern kind of a luxurious feel. Big ballrooms for events and an outdoor pool. My only concern is that the pool is kind of small and so is the hot tub and didnt serve food that day for some reason. Nothing special. (dropped my rating a bit)

BEST PART: The food! The restaurant is called cafe sierra, with a restaurant seating, dining room seating and lounge seating. The buffet was kind of pricey but compared to how much seperate dishes cost was well worth it. The breakfast buffet was great (I think about $12-$16?) but well worth it considering at the cafe a bagel, coffee and a fruit cup would cost you almost that. Anyways lots of pastries, yogurt, meats eggs Literally anything and everything.
BUT YOU CANNOT MISS: The seafood dinner buffet. Main features: a man who wraps sushi cones to whatever you please, a huge sushi buffet, miso soup, dimsum buffet, oysters and crab legs.. and that is one side of the buffet. the other includes roast beef, pastas, multiple entrees, and a huge desert table with a chocolate fountain, unlimited champage (!) and outside had bbq and a roast. There is live music and different areas to sit in I should probably just write a review for the restaurant but it really made my stay here just THAT MUCH BETTER. And if you really didn't like that quickly run to the park and get a booster juice or something.

Besides that staff were friendly & accommodating, the sleep was wonderful & made me love HIltons even more!

Room Tip: Spend the little extra and get a suite!

Hotel is in a great location, but needs help. The elevators are very slow. The internet is even slower. I've stayed at this property twice and my first stay was okay with the exception of waiting ten minutes for the elevator each time. Hilton needs to invest major $$ in this property.

Great location - out of the high traffic zone, but still close to everything LA has to offer...nice spacious (for parking and driving and convenient entry to hotel) parking garage with reasonable rates ($20/night), assuming you consider paying for parking reasonable. Very large room (they called it an "Alcove room") - on a high floor (as we had requested) - spotlessly clean, in perfect condition - (maybe recently renovated?) Excellent TV, large double dorm size refrigerator, powerful AC. Had a 20-25 foot wall of windows overlooking NBC Universal Studios building and also the theme park. Huge bathroom, nice coffee maker, beautiful pool area with cabanas. Had the Sunday night buffet - pricey at $44 and worth every penny - included many luxury items such as lobster thermidor. Extra nice staff everywhere we went. All this for only ~$200/night - how can you beat that?

We will be back...I just wish we were there now!

Be forewarned....the elevators are super slow. They have 5 but when you call the elevator, only one comes at a time and during peak hours, it can take forever to get to and from your room. This hotel is a bit dated so I guess the elevators are old too. Could use an upgrade.

I came down to Universal with my two kids on a whim and thought it make for a fun getaway. Upon arrival, everything was great. There was a bit of a wait during check-in (we arrived around 1:30PM). We got an upgraded room with the Universal view!!! Great right??? Well.....as we went up to our room, we put the card key in and it turns out, THE ROOM WAS ALREADY OCCUPIED!!! How crazy is that? We have stayed at many, many hotels all around the world and this has NEVER happened to us. Very unprofessional. It could have turned out really bad for the guest if we decided to go through their bags you know? Of course, we're not that way but hey, some people are.

We went back down to the front desk and told them what happened. No one really apologized. They just looked stunned as how could this happen? Instead of the great room we thought we had, they were going to give us one with 2 double beds, an older room and not so great view. Our check-in lady was going to give us free appetizers while we waited for our room to be ready. No, thanks!!! I was tired after driving for 6+ hours with the kids in the car so I settled for the not so great room BUT she did give us 3 free breakfast buffets. It turns out, their breakfast buffet ($23 for adults, $10 for kids) was great! We enjoyed the selection and it actually tasted really yummy!!!

Oh....for you toiletry hoarders like me, the hilton has Peter Thomas Roth brand. Cruelty Free and not tested on animals!!!

Location was GREAT!!! The free shuttle took us right to Universal Studios.
