This is a classy hotel with quality everything...It is very well-managed -- the manager on duty actually welcomed me to the hotel while I sipped a drink in the lobby bar! The bartenders are all excellent and they serve free yummy snacks at cocktail hour. The room was spotless, with wonderful bedding, toiletries and furniture. The pool, hot tubs, cabanas...(there's even handicap devices for lowering a person in the pool!) all clean and well-cared for. The pool is so big, one can do laps. The food in the hotel restaurant looked delicious, but was kind of pricey at $47 for all you can eat brunch (but there were piles of Alaskan King crab and fresh mussels, and other delectables). This is a great location for hopping on any number of freeways, and of course, Universal is right there.

We booked this hotel because it really is the closest to Universal Studios and a quick (uphill - not too bad) walk to the front gates. However the staff at this place was top notch and upon seeing that we were celebrating an anniversary upgraded us to a suite for free! We had free breakfast the next morning, which was yummy and tried the seafood buffet at night.

I swear to you...this must've been the best buffet I've ever had. My SO and I tried to stop eating, but we couldn't. The choices! Oh the choices!

The pool is a bit small, but thats okay -- this hotel is really about Universal Studios. I have to say the staff really made this trip for us. Even remembering us when we passed by the front desk again. Our room was big, beds were comfortable and the TV was a flat screen. Our view though...was amazing. It was really romantic.

There is no club lounge or wine tasting hour. They charge about $8/day for internet access and charge for bottled water in the room. Still, its close to CityWalk where you can get meals cheapily if you wish and close enough to Universal Studios that walking back after a tiring day isnt so bad. The Buffet is what its really about.

I stayed at The Hilton, Universal City for 5 nights at the end of August and enjoyed every minute of my stay! The Hotel is bright, spacious and has a really nice atmosphere about it. The staff were super friendly and really helpful, particularly those on the guest services desk. There are great amenities in the hotel including a shop and a starbucks as well as an hours free wifi which was really useful for checking up on emails. We didnt use the pool so i cant comment on that. We never ate at the restaurant for an evening meal but the buffet looked amazing! The buffet breakfast seemed a bit pricey at first at $22 per person but believe me, it is worth it! There is so much variety to choose from (cooked breakfast, fruit, cereals, pastries, dim sum!,pancakes and even a specific omlette chef) that you easily get your moneys worth. My family and I would fill up on breakfast to the extent that we only needed something small during the day to last through to dinner! The rooms were great. Compared to your standard hotel room I think the HIlton rooms are much larger. The beds are super comfy, the reading desk came in handy for writing postcards, the fridge was really useful and the television was a good size and easy to use. The bathroom was a good size and had nice shampoo etc The Hotel is in a great location for Universal Studios and City Walk. Its about a 10 minute walk up a small hill and across a bridge to the city walk or you can wait for the shuttle which is about every 15 minutes from the hotel. If you want to head into Hollywood the metro station is about a 15 minute walk down a hill but be warned, the hill is pretty steep when walking back up it so if you have had a long day you might fancy waiting for the free shuttle up to universal! Overall this hotel was great, a great place for families!

The service was acceptable, but not very welcoming. The location is perfect for visiting Universal studios. Its just a short walk to the main gates of universal.
The rooms are very nice, clean and modern. But you do have to pay extra for parking and internet which is a bit much considering the room rates.

All in all we were really happy with this hotel. We walked up and received a pretty good rate. We booked an Executive Level room. NOTE there is nothing special about these rooms, apart from a high level. There is no club lounge. You get breakfast vouchers, but they put you in a room next to the restaurant, you can pay extra to upgrade to the main restaurant, I found this whole thing weird!!

The room was great, great size and we had an excellent view down to Universal Studios with LA to the right. TV was old, but watched very little. Beds and pillows were super comfortable!!

Pool area was pretty good and almost empty.

5 min walk across to Universal with plenty of choice of dining.

Room Tip: Nothing Special About Executive Room (Except High Level Guaranteed)

I recently spent one night at this hotel while attending Universal Studios. I chose this hotel strictly for it's proximity to the theme park. Even though the hotel was close to the park, it was not convenient. Since it is located right next to the park, I would assume there would be a walkway or path that you could follow, unfortunately there isn't. I asked one of the staff members about getting to the park and she told me to go to the end of the ballrooms and the park is across the street. As we walked towards the ballrooms it was very clear they had events happening in these ballrooms and the foyers had catered food and a lot of dressed up people. Needless to say, since we were in our theme park attire, we stood out like a sore thumb and after getting a few looks from people we proceeded to turn around and head back out the main entrance. We then had to walk down the driveway (no sidewalks) and with 3 kids I had to make sure everyone was walking right alongside the curb. There was even signs outside the ballrooms informing people of the private events and asking them to go around. Once we got down to the main street, there was a sidewalk and pedestrian overpass so from there it was a safe walk.

Everything else about our stay was typical of an average hotel. The room was average size and the beds were comfortable (although small). The room was mostly clean, except the bathroom had areas of the floor that had long, black hair and nobody in our room had long hair. Our room was right next to the elevator but it was quiet. I was surprised by the $6 bottle of water in the room. Even more so when I discovered the vending machines in the hotel surprisingly don't sell water! When we returned to the hotel the gift store was already closed, so we were "forced" to buy the $6 water. As a Hilton Honors member, I've usually got at least one bottle of complimentary water in the room. All in all, our stay at the hotel was OK, not great, but not bad. Given the cost of almost $300 a night for a standard double room, I would stay somewhere else next time and bring my own water.

The Hilton at Universal City was fantastic. Rooms were great, staff was nice and the closeness to Universal Studios is why we booked it. They also had a shuttle that ran every 20 minutes till 4.30 pm. Yes it finished quite early but it was only a 5 minute stroll back to the hotel. The shuttle drivers were always helpful and pleasant.

The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were beautifully laid out.

The only reason I didn't give a 5 star review was that the Hilton wanted to charge us $14.00 for a three page fax. The price was $1.99 a minute.

Room Tip: All rooms would be good. The soundproofing was good and we didnt hear any other guests.
