“First trip to America”
Reviewed May 11, 2013

From the moment we stepped off the shuttle bus, we were made to feel so very welcome. The staff all made us feel like honoured guests and nothing was too much trouble for them. With it been our first trip to America we knew very little about the area, but my daughter and I didn't need to worry. The staff were knowledgeable about the best ways of getting around (I don't drive). The room was delightful and the setting ideal. My daughter loved the pool and hated having to get out. Tulas has a great selection of food and is reasonably priced. We're already saving up to come back in 2014 and yes we want to stay at the Beverly Garland again.

Stayed here for three nights. Great check-in and all the staff are polite and very attentive.

I read previous reviews about the hotel and agree that the hotel looks tired and the rooms are in need of a face lift. We stayed in the Elderado (room 211). Bathroom is small but it was quite adequate for our needs and everything worked. Disappointed that there was thick dust on the TV and the balcony could have done with a sweep and the furniture a good clean.

The bed was a little soft for my liking but generally a comfortable stay. There is tea and coffee facilities in the room and I agree the rooms could do with a small refrigerator and perhaps a microwave.

We didn't eat dinner in the hotel, just breakfast which was nice but a little expensive (we had the breakfast buffet).

The bar was great and also offers bar snacks and has a very good selection of drinks. It has a happy hour between 3.30 & 6.30pm, everything half price including food.

The hotel is close to Universal Studio's and offers a free shuttle trolleybus to get you there but there is nothing else close to the hotel. There is a small shopping plaza within a 10 minute walk from the hotel which has a 24hrs supermarket (Ralph's ), a pharmacy, a Chinese take out, a gift shop and also a Starbucks. The Starbucks was full of Students and I mean full, using their free wifi. And that's it!!!

Get to know the guys on the concierge :) They helped us out with a couple of things.

Wow.

The Beverly Garland was an absolute Gem of a find.

We only stayed here for two nights as part of our Honeymoon and loved it from the moment we stepped into the hotel.

There was plenty of parking which was great, and upon checking in, we received an Upgrade to a suite. The room was lovely and roomy. Everything was spotlessly clean.

We ordered breakfast to be delivered to the room each day and it was quick and lovely and I would urge everyone to indulge.

An awesome old-school shuttle bus was available throughout the day to Universal Studios which was free of charge. All the staff were lovely from check-in to the Boutique staff.

We didn't go in the pool but it also looked lovely.

I'll make it very simple. Yes, the hotel needs a make over...but its very clean and very comfortable. It's old style LA Valley. Many buildings. Beautiful grounds. A little dark. It'd not bright and cookie cutter like some many. Yes, of cause, if you over look the Freeway, you might hear some noise, but get over it. They are putting in sound proff glass now.
Now, the point is. It's a great deal for where you are... and the staff is better then a Four Season Hotel.

Went here for a reunion. Nothing to complain about, except the bathroom was very small...really small. No place to do makeup easily and the tub was kind of high to step into. The hotel itself itself was beautifully maintained with lovely grounds, old graceful trees, beautiful landscaping. The banquet they offered had excellent food! Towels were a bit small and not very fluffy but the bed and pillows were comfortable, the room was immaculate. All in all I would stay there again and would recommend it to my friends.

I arrived early so my room was not ready. They did provide a place for me to leave my luggage while I waited for about an hour. I stayed here for a conference. The price was $159 per night (this was the conference discount). I think that the grounds are very nice. I like the greenery and the fountains. However, I do agree with some of the others that you should expect more for this price. It was just a basic room. No refrigerator or any special amenities. There were broken tiles in the bathroom shower. I bought a bottle of water from the vending machine for $1.50. I was expecting a 16 ounce bottle but instead I got a very tiny 10 oz bottle. I was very disappointed about that. The conference was held in the theater which would have been nice if the seats were not so uncomfortable, The upside is that they do provide a free shuttle to Universal every hour. Oh, by the way, they do charge an additional $15 daily ($12 for priority club members) if you drive a car.

Room Tip: Rooms behind the Beverly Garland Center are quiet.
