“THE place to stay”
Reviewed October 15, 2012

Went to LA last week to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary w/our children (5 of us). Started off on a bad note because our hotel choice/accomodations (thru the net) were horrible! After the first night, my wife and I set out on a mission to relocate. We had the fortune of connecting w/Deone (manager of the Beverly Garland) who was very attentive in listening to our "nightmare" and arranged for 2 rooms immediately (on the same floor). The 3 days we stayed at the BG were fabulous! Rooms were comfy, clean and nicely decorated. The grounds were relaxing w/the nice pool, jacuzzi, sauna. All the staff were professional, helpful and pleasant. Retired from a facility supervision job, I automatically zero in on the organization of an establishment, whether it's a restaurant, hotel, etc. Whenever things are together and everything is running smoothly, I always credit the management. A business cannot run successfully without good management. At the Beverly Garland, it is obvious that management has got this place together. Thank you Deone for providing a class act hotel experience, and assisting us in our stay w/your positive attitude. We will definitely be coming back!!!

We stayed at the Beverly Garland in room 707 from 9/10/12 - 13/10/12...

I loved staying at the Beverly Garland, the pool and hot tub were nearly always deserted apart from the occasional Brit, Aussie or American family! All english speaking so nice relaxed atmosphere to chat to people... the hot tub was crazy hot - it was amazing after a busy day.

The shuttle service connecting the hotel with Universal is quick and frequent - only issue is that there are only 21 spaces on the shuttle and they dont let you stand so we often were unable to get on and had to wait. Granted we were there off peak so god knows whats its like in the middle of summer (although may have more services on-peak) The drivers were nice enough and in broken english would hint that they would come back for you which they dutifully did 15 mins later. My advice would be to plan around avoiding the busiest periods (6:15 - 8:15) there isnt a 7:15 shuttle so surrounding services are always busy! CityWalk is great for relatively cheap and close grub, as a brit American food doesnt blow my mind as we have much the same here but quality, surroundings and price was good. Also find out EXACTLY where the shuttle stops as we stuggled as where to wait as its stop is not marked and Universal staff that have a clue are hard to find.

The room was good, the noise from the million high ways that zip around the hotel are not - but the hotel is in LA sp to be expected, the hotel have managed the noise really well with sheltered walk ways and double glazing... but dont think about using the balcony.

The service was good, cleaners were fab! Moving around the guests keeping everything spotless - often they wouldnt get in the lift with you as to not disturb you or for you to notice the workings of the hotel (like rubbish collection or dirty sheets!) remember to tip the cleaners as I can imagine they are often forgotten!

Tulas is the hotel endorsed restaurant - the elderly host was on a different planet. She didnt welcome us with the usual American smile and service. Probably because she looked and sounded European... she also used what looked like a personal mobile in front of us and didnt spot that we hadnt been served or even introduced to our waiter after 20-30 mins!! The lovely mexican man that cleared the table and put water out was amazing. The hostess said we should have told her about the waitors poor service - who didnt introduce himself or even really speak... he just smiled and glazed at us - but I disagree, she should have noticed and promoted him to serve us. Food, prices and atmosphere were great so what the host and waitor (John - who was a Brit trying to back it in the talkies I bet!) lacked was more than made up for. The host also covered in the bar once and didnt know what amaretto was, didnt smile... and talked to me asif I was stupid for asking for this bizarre amaretto and looked me up and down asif I was underage when asking for my ID (Im 26).

Parking was great, weather was amazing apart from the last two days... I got our room on points so wasnt thinking about value for money although would be happy to spend another week here!

Room Tip: We stayed in 707 which faced the front and was on the 7th floor... if you want quite I would ask for...

Yes, you can move in…we have your room waiting. Thanks for staying with us and we are thrilled to know that you enjoyed your stay. It never rains in LA, but of course, it decided to do so during your trip, hopefully this did not get in the way of you enjoying our city. We really appreciate you taking the time to let us know of your experience as we enjoy hearing from our guests. Your feedback is the best tool we have in making improvements in the quality of our property but most importantly, our service.

An excellent find for families. Good value, much attention to aesthetics surrounded by beautiful trees, water features, subtle lighting, quite magical. Poolside is lovely for all ages, with lovely fresh towels, snacks and drinks available, daybeds etc. Early evening 'movie' nights around the pool on set days of the week. Onsite restaurant is excellent. Rooms are modern and comfortable, and balconys set among the trees provide additional room to relax, read etc. Ticket deals to universal studios and shuttle make it really easy to get to and fro. Shops nearby. Front desk very helpful, and onsite shop has maps and info on LA etc. Laundrette is another bonus for longer stay and families. So, while LA was busy for us, the hotel was a calm 'home' for us. Parking is easy, but is charged on top of the stay, not inexpensive. Breakfasts were included in our deal, but only for 2 adults which for family with older children means additional charge. Breakfasts were good, but one had to pay for juice if you had more than one glass, not the case for coffee etc, this seemed a bit petty for a hotel that is generally easy-going. Ice/drink etc are vended close to rooms.

Room Tip: Choose the block closer to the pool. Rooms facing away from the pool have nice trees and view of an...

Thank you for staying with us during your recent visit to LA. We are very happy to hear you enjoyed our property. LA is a very busy city, regardless if one is on business or holiday and we feel it important to create an environment that allows you to relax and get away from it all. We also appreciate your compliments about Tula’s Restaurant, Chef Csotai and the entire team is excited to hear your experience was excellent. We wish your travels return you to The Garland in the near future.

The hotel is a lovely hotel in a quiet area. The outdoor pool can be used day and night. It is beautiful at night with the pool area all lit up. There is also a nice hot jacuzzi and sauna and plenty of white fluffy towels supplied for you to use.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is also free use of safes in the reception area. The restaurant serves lovely food. The rooms are very clean and spacious.

There is a free shuttle bus which leaves regularly from reception to universal studios.

Just spent a week in the hotel after several several short overnight stops during the last couple of years. Once again, I found the location perfect and the staff so friendly and helpful. Easy, convenient access to the freeways to get to other SoCal locations and a free shuttle to Universal Studios and the metro station. The room was comfortable and clean, the pool was great (especially the poolside bar), and the restaurant fare was excellent. My biggest "treat" was interacting with Luz every morning when she took my order for room service and delivered my breakfast. She was cheerful, charming and quickly picked on my "usuals". What a delight!
This will continue to be my hotel of choice when I'm visiting the Burbank/Hollywood area.

The hotel is large and set in a quiet area of LA, it has a great outdoor pool and bar area which we used well into the evening.
Breakfast and dinner is served at the ajoining restaurant just left of reception out side the hotel. The food and choice was very good and quality very good. Price not too bad for a big city. The hotel is in a great location for the Film studios and there was a free bus running to one of them i forget which one.
The rooms were very well equipped and we had a great nights sleep, staff were very helpful. There is an additional fee for parking your car at the hotel.
If your going to Universal or Warner brothers studios then this is in a great location. LA city centre is about 20 minutes away.

Room Tip: We used our loyalty points to get a room upgrade and premium service and check in and out.

Thanks for visiting The Beverly Garland. We agree, our hotel is perfectly set in a quite area, surrounded by our beautiful tress, which is very unusual for a city hotel...we love our oasis and glad you did too! We also thank you for visiting Tula’s Restaurant and Splash Bar. There is nothing better than having a beverage of choice poolside by our beautiful outdoor fireplace enjoying a great LA evening.

I booked this hotel through flight centre so I had limited information about it. We stayed for 4 nights and my experience overall was lovely. We booked a room for 4, my husband and our 2 children. The room was spacious and clean with facilities as listed on their website. The staff are friendly and accommodating.
I used their gym which I felt is well equipped. I noticed there was poolside movies but we didn't get a chance to participate, but speaking to other guests, they found it great fun. Our booking included buffet breakfast and the food was hot and tasty.
My hubby left behind a pair of pants in the room with our car and house keys in the pockets after checking out! We discovered this a few days later fortunately before flying out of The USA! Thanks to the lovely staff, the items got couriered to us the same day.
My only whinge was that air conditioning is noisy and on hot nights it was hard to sleep with or without A/C.

Room Tip: Book well in advance for the best rooms.I tried to up grade to the kids rooms, which I here are fant...

We appreciate you choosing our hotel for your visit to Los Angeles. Sorry to hear you did not have an opportunity to take part of the Dive-In movie, but that gives you reason for a return visit. I am thrilled to hear we were able to get your keys to you quickly…getting home without these after a long flight would not have been fun. Thanks again for staying with us!
