Izakaya Haru Ulala is Japanese-style tapas with a friendly atmosphere and super-cold Kirin on tap. Thanks to the nature of small dishes, the bill can start at $5 of food and run to about $40, at one's discretion. The menu generally includes Japanese comfort foods, including chawan-mushi, ochazuke, yakitori, okonomiyaki, and grilled vegetables (Including enoki, okra, and garlic, which go surprisingly well with drinks), as well as more familiar standards like tempura and sushi.
They also have a happy hour from 5:30-7:30 daily, with Kirin draft beer at $2 a glass. If beer's not your thing, they have a full selection of sake and shochu as well as a few house drinks, such as the Haru Ulala - a mixture of pomegranate liqueur, sprite, and unfiltered sake.
