“Travelodge on Century Blvd.”

Stayed here one night in between our way back home from vacation. I only recommend one night. It looks like it was built in the early 1970's. The room was modestly upgraded and had a unpleasant smell like carpet powder cleaner. They put us farthest out from the lobby and the hotel location is not the best in LA. You do have a well known restaurant chain next door which is good. The shuttle is on the hour during certian hours and you need to call them if you need them to pick you up. It is a small shuttle bus only holding 9 people. There is free Continental breakfast in the morning. We picked it because we just needed a place for a few hours, it had 24hours shuttle service from LAX , and breakfast.

Hello and thank you for your comments -- actually the hotel was built in 1955 -- it was extensively remodeled in 1995 with on going up dates. It was the first Hyatt House property--originally built by a Swedish man with the first name of Hyatt -- when purchased by the family that developed the Hyatt chain; they kept the name. We are located between the Hilton, La Quinta and the Westin. Alhtough our "vintage" is older we do have the luxury of having open grounds and landscapting as a choice rather than a high rise hotel -- if price, cleanliness, and a trainquil setting created by the landscaping in an surrounding area that most people describe as a "concrete jungle" then I hope you found those features to be enjoyable. We spent one night at this hotel after flying in from Nashville. We had booked a cruise leaving the next day from Long Beach. Found the hotel on the internet and thought the price was "right" for a one night stay. After seeing the place in person, I was a bit disappointed at the price. The rooms we had were very run down and the beds extremely uncomfortable. Our friends in the next room found gummy bears in their made up bed. We were traveling with my 80 year old mother and the hotel had no elevators...luckily, we were only on the second floor. I blame myself for that...for not checking about elevators.

On the plus side, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Checking in and out was a breeze. The hotel provided free shuttle service to and from the airport which is always nice. Denny's rest was on the property and so we didn't have to get out and go in search of our dinner.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We are a full service garden style two story property with a 24 hour Dennys Restaurant on premises. We have bellmen on staff to help our guests with their luggage whether on the first or second floor. Our market is the budget conscience hotel guest. We are the only full service hotel in the airport area offering free parking, internet WIFI and continental breakfast (includes fresh fruit, bagels and cream cheese, cereals etc).

Stayed here to catch an early flight out of LAX. Don't let the exterior fool you. This is surprisingly a pretty big and nice place on the inside. Room was clean, comfortable and overlooked a courtyard with a well-kept tropical garden. Pool looked nice but was loaded with kids. Wi-fi was in good working order. The neighborhood is LAX and pretty industrial and no fun if you don't have a car. Very few good eating options unless you drive to Westchester. Great place for a layover or short stay.

Hello and thank you for your comments... Yes, from the street view the interior of the hotel is a surprise....definitely not a "concrete jungle" as frequently described by people travelling through LA Airport. You are correct -- do not plan an walking to a multi-store shopping area--there is none in the whole airport area. The hotel does participate in the Ocean Express which for $5 takes you to Manhanttan Beach Shopping Mall as well as the seaside town of Manhanttan Beach (not on tourist route and delightfl). The hotel dose provide shuttle service to area restarants -- eating in the airport hotels can be VERY pricey. Regards, Lance Lipscomb

Maybe we got a bad room. Maybe we were just unlucky, but this was one of the filthiest hotels which I have stayed in for a long time. The toilet was clogged. The drapes were dirty. The covers on the bed felt like something sticky was on them. The second floor room means hauling luggage up stairs and through a maze of a complex with no one available to help. The shower was clean (thank goodness). The bed was lumpy. The room was noisy and the blackout curtains had a gap under them. The shuttle from the airport took almost an hour to show up after phoning. I was totally not impressed. Really glad to checkout. Booked this room on the half day rate for a stopover. next time, will pay $30 extra and go to the Sheraton or Hilton.

Sorry to hear of your less than desireable half day stay. "Flithy" -- well if other reviews are read the guest's view does not seem to be validated. The houseekeeping score for the last inspection by both AAA , Travelodge Corporate, and Entertain placed our housekeeping scores in the 96% category. Yes, there is no elevator and guests do have to climb one flight of stairs. Lumpy mattress -- possible as all mattresses were beinging replaced in 2010 -- 85% completed as of today. Cleaning schedule are followed for drapes -- blankets changes weekly adn bedspeads cleaned weekly. Regrets...that you left the hotel without us leaving you with a positive memory. I booked this online at the ridiculous rate of £19 a night for 5 nights...................located on Sepulveda Boulevard (very busy arterial road near the airport) the room I had on the first night was facing Sepulveda & the traffic noise was constant all night. The room itself was spacious, clean & well worth the money. There was also very little noise from LAX which is only a mile away.

I requested a room change & the receptionist was extremely accommodating in moving me across the corridor, the new room was equally clean & tidy but a bit smaller, however as I was on my own this did not bother me.
The rooms all come with newly fitted LCD TV on walls, with full HBO Movies etc.......plus free Wi-Fi.

There was one interruption in the early hours by a couple across the courtyard rowing at 3am, but I guess this happens in life. The rest of my stay there was good & I would definitely stay there again.

The staff were friendly & courteous at all times, the only thing I did not try was the complimentary continental breakfast.

All in all, this was an okay place to stay. Good value but you need to be aware that the prices fluctuate on the internet, I kept checking every day and once you see a low price you grab it.

Helped us find a church on Sunday that wecould get to by bus.
Handy for the airport and local buses.
Comfortable rooms.
Next door to Dennys restaurant which we found better than the Hilton where we spent the next night.

This motel is reasonable priced with an airport shuttle and hot water. Other than that, you get what you pay for. Being on the first floor, the upstairs room creaked and shook everytime someone walked up there and since this an Airport motel, they arrived at 12:30am and stayed up all night. The front desk needs to be more aware and courteous of this, not the vacationer. Half of the T.V channels went out due to a defective cable wire and was not repaired even after a maintenance person inspected it. The air conditioner vents were broken, the air was musty and the unit was loud. The bathroom fan could wake the dead and the fluorescent lights had to be touched each time in order to illuminate. And if you get a room on the street you better a deep sleeper.

Of course, we prefer our guests to have a positive memory of their stay rather than a negative one. Tired from traveling...what one does not want is listening to overhead walking. What has been true is that although the hotel was built in 1955 the sound proofing of walls and floors has resulted in few complaints about noise. Then again a noisy bathroom fan or a/c unit is just as distracting. Not sure about the fluorescent lighting comment as fluorescent lighting is not permitted. Regards, Lance
