We stayed here recently when we arrived on a morning flight from Australia. It allowed us to rest in the afternoon and overnight before flying to Denver the next morning. We did the same thing when we returned to LA 3 weeks later and this time we stayed the extra 1/2 day so that we could shower etc. before our 10pm flight home. We found the room clean and comfortable and the staff were reasonable. Breakfast was good, however, it pays to get there early as the dining area is fairly packed by 8-8.30. The motel is only a 5 minute shuttle ride from the airport. The motel is an older style but we found the pool and garden area charming.

On the notice board in the hallway we found information about the Ocean Express Trolley to Manhatten Beach. This is a $5 return ticket and the tickets must be purchased from the hotel. The bus stop is a short walk to the first set of lights to the left on Century Boulevarde. It is an excellent way to fill in the day if you have an evening flight. Make sure you purchase your tickets at the front desk otherwise the bus driver will send you back to your motel to buy them.

We will definitely stay here again when we next fly to the States to visit our son and his family.

Room Tip: Rooms on the right hand side down behind the laundry area are quieter than those around the pool are...

The staff always appreciate hearing from a satisfied guest...a person for whom we fulfill their lodging needs. Yes, a visit to Manhattan Beach is a plus -- a ocean side community that is not on the tourist map. Picturesque ocean front walk lined by beach side homes. If the budget permits the hop-on and hop-off trolley also stops at the Manhattan Beach and El Segundo Malls.
For our overnight guests who have a late flight the next day, the hotel has an "extended rate" that enables guests to occupy the room until 8 p.m. After a day of touring, you can return to your hotel room and prepare for your departing flight.
The best compliment we can receive is to know that a guest plans to return on future visists.

We stayed here for one night and the place was OK. We were looking for something really close to LAX but we didn't want to spend much since we were only going to sleep there and leave early in the morning. The place is marketed as a retro-type hotel and it definitely looks old. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good and the place was clean as well. My number 1 complain is that our flight got in just before 1 AM and we had to wait a good 45 minutes for the hotel shuttle to pick us up. A nice police officer called for us asking how often the shuttle ran by LAX and they said every half and hour. We waited for the 1 AM and by 1:40 we called again and they said we should have let them know we wanted the shuttle to be there... Don't believe it's going to be there every half an hour. Call requesting it specifically or you're in for a loooong wait. The driver got there within 5 minutes and he was super nice.
The hotel has seen better days. It looks a little run down and I don't think I would choose it again, but it was what we needed at the moment.

Room Tip: The rooms by the pool seemed brighter and nicer. We got a room in the back and was dark and facing a...

When we fulfill a guest's needs, we have achieved our goal. Personable and knowledgeable staff, good mattress, substantial towels, good complimentary continental breakfast, free Wi-Fi, new 32 inch flat screen television, and clean room all for a moderate 2 star price.
Shuttle Service: Regrettably the guest was unaware he needed to call for the shuttle service. Every website, internet. and 3rd party site provides the instructions to call for the shuttle.
We are a FIFTIES property...chronological we are "old". "Run down" -- is a very subjective judgment; yes to maintain the charm of a vintage property can be challenging--we do have our "wrinkles" and perhaps a "bulge" or two. The option is to give it a 21st Century face lift so that we can look like all the other modern lodges. Instead, we have a crew of 5 who spend each day seeing that the signs of age are tastefully addressed that does not distract from the charm and character that comes with age whether in buildings or people...you can still have a fresh look even though your architecture is from the Fifties.
It is with regrets that the guest is not going to return...if you want the 3 and 4 star property glamour, then you need to select the $150 to $200 a night property.

We stayed here for 2 weeks. The shuttle arrived shortly after we phoned for it from the airport, driver was helpful. Staff were friendly and for the most part were very helpful. We had a ground floor pool view room with 2 double beds, the cleanliness of the room was excellent. Housekeeping were friendly and courteous.

The pool and garden area were very clean and beautifully kept. The free breakfast was good, included cereal, breads, donuts, bagels, fruits, coffee, juices etc..

Denny's next door is conveniently open 24 hours.

The only downside to this hotel, though it's minor, is the location, we liked that it's outside the hustle and bustle, very relaxing but if you want something more lively maybe it wouldn't suit. VIP tours can be booked through the hotel, you'll get to see all the sights for a very affordable price.

The hotel also booked us a private car to take us to Hollywood a few times, our driver Jovanny was excellent, very friendly always on time and the rate was a lot better than the taxi price.

We really enjoyed our stay here and will stay here again our next trip to LA!

Thank you for your glowing review. The success of the hotel is achieved through the combined efforts of the staff. The average tenure of the staff is 12.7 years -- there is definitely a comaraderie among the employees that creates an atmosphere in which they function well as a team.
The Los Angeles Airport is frequently defined as being at the "hub of the wheel" for entertaiment located in the metropolitan area of LA. Whether by tour bus, private transport, or public transportation all popular tourist sites are within 15 to 45 minutes of the hotel.
The best recommendation the staff can receive is when a guest states they will return to stay with us again!!

I booked a room here for my 11-hour stopover at LAX to try to freshen up and get some sleep. I waited at the airport for more than 30 minutes for the hotel shuttle and was left sitting alone for a long time while all other hotel shuttles had come and gone (some multiple times). When the driver finally showed up, he blamed me for the long wait saying I should have called! (This was written NOWHERE in my reservation!) There was a convenience store near reception where I wished to purchase a drink and snacks, but it was locked and reception could not help me track the staff down. It was a 'third party' store and they did not wish to help. Then when I finally reached the hotel, they checked me into a room that was very far from the front desk in another building, and I needed to lug my heavy suitcase up a flight of stairs. When I lifted off the top bed cover, I found MANY chunky cookie crumbs on the blanket underneath!! NEVER have I seen this before - I felt like the bed was not made. Thankfully there are clean sheets underneath. The room is also very noisy as it faces a busy road, and when someone else is running water nearby the pipes are also quite loud. This was NOT worth $100 USD/night, which was supposedly a good price for airport hotels. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the "first building" near reception, and if you have a lot of bags, ask...

Guest reviews whether positive or negative have value for travelers and hotels. In this instance, the guest began his stay by having to wait at LAX for a shuttle that never arrived because he was unaware that he had to call for the service. Yes, very frustrating after a long flight.

There are kiosks in each luggage claim area that provide phone contact with hotels. Every attempt is made through advertisements, internet, and 3rd party sites to make sure that guests arriving by plane know to call for the shuttle service. Each day 35 plus shuttle trips are made to LAX to bring our guests to the hotel.
Once a negative occurs then the person presupposes everything is going to be bad and lists everything that supports his premise. The guest booked a room in our standard section (pool side is $10 more and includes a refrigerator) -- the rooms take a couple of minutes to reach from the lobby area; the hotel is two storey without elevators; staff is available to assist with luggage; crumbs in the blanket...totally unacceptable. Gift shop closed -- open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.; the hotel has a Denny's Restaurants available which is open 24 hrs.
The hotel is located within the Century Blvd., hotel row corridor..there is traffic and access to the boulevard is necessary to reach the airport. Pipes making noise--not a complaint received from other guests.
"Run down" hotel -- the guest did not mention anything about the condition of the furniture, the mattress, the linens and towels, the heating and cooling, the landscaping, the free Wi-FI, the 32 flat screen television, complimentary continental breakfast, shuttle service to airport, security, knowledgeable staff. Since he mentioned everything that he found not acceptable, all these items must have been fine. His summation is the property is "run down" -- it is from the FIFTIES...wonderful architecture that has been maintained...no it is not a high rise 3 or 4 star property in the price range of $150 to $200 that do not offer many of our free amenities--we represent ourselves as accurately and clearly as possible. We want guests whose expectations are in keeping with what we can provide them for the rates charged. We believe that our unique setting provides a convenient and affordable option for those visiting our airport hotel community. Manager

Thank you for your review. When we fulfill our goal of providing an option to the 3-4 star high rise hotels that surround us -- moderate price and CLEAN facilities from guest rooms, to pool and gardens including guest laundry room and fitness center -- we have achieved our 3 star goal although we are a 2 star property. A helpful staff whether in grounds, front desk, bellmen or housekeeping is what makes the Travelodge a very special place to stay.

This is the only pet-friendly hotel near LAX that I could find. We were very pleased with the entire experience. Lovingly maintained extensive gardens that you stroll through to get to your building. Our first floor room was very convenient for us and the dog. The property is more like a bygone era collection of 2-story motel buildings but don't let that put you off - it was very well maintained, including the sweet pink doors and awnings. Even tho' it's on the corner of Century and Aviation, we did not experience traffic noise. And unlike the big brand name hotels, the room had frig and micro. We left too early to experience the breakfast. Took advantage of the one night plus 7 days parking package -- all for under $200. We will absolutely use this place again and highly recommend it. Ths only drawback, and not the hotel's fault, was very noisy guests up an down the stairs in the middle of the night.

Room Tip: First floor, facing gardens

Thank you for submitting your review of your recent stay at the hotel. We are a pet friendly hotel and provide special rooms for guest traveling with their four legged "family" members. There are open grounds surrounding the area in which pets can be exercised during the day. We do not have limitations as to size of pet or to the "variety". Exotic birds, pot belly pig, rabbits, hamsters, cats of all persuasions, chimpanzee's, a pigmy goat, etc. have visited the hotel during the past 30 years.
We are the "old gal" on Century's Boulevard's Hotel Row; however, attention is paid to keep room updates while maintaining the architectural character of the fifties. New mattresses, 32 inch flat screen television, refrigerators (pool area), Wi-Fi, are all state of the art.
Park and Fly package -- a program designed for guests who are leaving their car for a week while traveling. The parking facility is a covered and secured garage located 1 block from the hotel. Manager

OK this is not a fancy place, kind of a funky 70's LA garden hotel. The grounds are very nice, lots of plants, flowers and most have placards to let you know what they are. The people are friendly, the shuttle was there to get me within minutes. I used to stay here years ago and it has not changed. Never used the pool but it looks nice. Overall when I fly in and out quick here I will stay here again. The wfi is very good too!

The best recommendations a hotel can receive are from returning guests. Especially a guest who has stayed with us in years past and finds the quality of the hotel has been maintained while continuing to offer moderate room rates. We are definitely the "old gal" on Century Boulevard's row of hotels (the only two storey with grounds) and know how important it is to have a staff who are personable and knowledgeable. We provide a unique option for those travelling through LAX Airport -- clean rooms that include new mattresses, 32 inch flat screen televisions, hair dryers, irons, and ironing boards, plus FREE Wi-Fi that is continuously upgraded to provide good reception, complimentary shuttle service and continental breakfast. Thank you for your review. Manager
