“Weird elevators, but everything else was fine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013

I have one silly #firstworld complaint - the elevators are load (piped in music that is entirely too loud) and the weird "hip" lighting in the elevator makes it almost impossible to see in them.

Okay - now that that's out of the way, the rest of the hotel is fine - exactly what you'd generally expect in a Marriott property. The staff was generally courteous and helpful. We ate one meal in the bistro and our waiter was great. Peter who checked us in was especially friendly and helpful.

We stayed here two nights finishing a visit to LA and it was so convenient to stay here and head back to return our rental car and then fly out of LAX.

We had a couple of other minor issues with the room. Again - not major at all - just something to be aware of for those people who like to know as much as possible. There is no outlet near a mirror in the main sleeping area - making it nearly impossible for two people to get ready in separate spaces. Also, even though we had the do not disturb sign out, our door got knocked on twice by housekeeping staff. Not sure what the deal was with that as I've never had it happen before. The beds were also "noisy" in our room. Not sure what was causing it but every time I rolled over it was a bit obnoxious.

This is the convenient hotel to stay at when you need to be near LAX and/or the rental car agencies nearby as hertz and avis are a simple walk up the street and the airport is an 8 minute shuttle ride away.

Stayed at the Renaissance LAX for 3 nights in late Sept 2013 at the end of a US vacation. Got a good rate online (A$135/night after taxes) by going for a 'mystery hotel' in the LAX area, as I would have been happy with either 4-star hotel available on that site at the time. If you don't need to stay downtown or near one of the theme parks (e.g. Anaheim), this is a cost-effective option. However, dinner at the hotel restaurant was overpriced; breakfast was reasonable. There are some eateries (e.g. The Coffee Co, In-N-Out) a couple of miles away which offer good alternatives. Disappointingly, and unlike most 4-star hotels these days, in-room wi-fi is extra (US$9.95/day) but is free in the lobby (I just used the lobby connection). The room itself was a bit dated but spacious and clean, with a very comfy bed. Not much of a view outside except for plane-spotters like me -- aircraft on final approach passed by my window regularly, but the noise is not an issue (even if you don't like aeroplanes). All staff were helpful and courteous. I may stay here again, but would depend on what else was available in the area at the time.

We stayed at the Renaissance for 1 night. The room was clean and comfortable, as could be expected. We chose the "Stay for Breakfast" rate, which only added $20 to our stay. What a value! For the extra $20, you get their breakfast buffet, which includes made to order omelets, for 2 adults. The buffet was quite satisfactory with many choices. We were traveling with our 7 year old grandson, and his buffet was free (children under 12 eat free). No where in the area could we have gotten a better breakfast of this quality for $20! Even though the hotel was located very near LAX, we never heard any air traffic at all. We most definitely will stay here again when we have a late night flight into LAX.

Room Tip: Choose the "Stay for Breakfast" rate if you are traveling as a couple or with children.

I stayed at the Renaissance for 3 nights and it is centrally located to all attractions. We were 15 minutes from Venice Beach, 30 minutes from Rodeo Drive and Hollywood Blvd. The hotel was clean and nice, the bartender Carlos at the Sports bar makes some good drinks. The Shuttle comes very frequent. There is a Burger King across the street and is opened late. I had a shower drainage problem in our room that was quickly resolved in a half hour, no issues. There is nothing within walking distance of area so taxi or rental car is a must. I will definitely stay at the Renaissance on my next visit to LA.

Great choice near the airport. The sports bar does the trick for a low hassle meal with a reasonable price. The work out room is bigger than most and allows a good session. Shuttle service is frequent enough.

I have stayed at this hotel several times in past year. I usually spend a night here before catching an early morning flight out of LAX. the hotel is conveniently located across from the Budget car rental on the Airport Blvd, right next door to the larger Marriott. I prefer this one over the flagship Marriott next door because of better service, decore, and much better concierge lounge, as well as proximity to the Budget car rental. The beds are always comfortable and rooms are well appointed. The hotel has a free shuttle to the airport, however I do not reccomend taking it unless you allow at least 30 minutes for the short ride to the termianl. I definitely reccoment this hotel.
