Convenient location and great hotel staff make this a terrific hotel for business trips. Room service and bell service were very prompt. Checkout was easy. Liked the smaller hotel feel of this property. Corner king room was very pleasant. More counter space in the bathroom would be helpful or shelving but no otherwise a very nice room and good experience.

I've stayed at many hotels downtown and the Hilton Checkers is my one of my two favorites (the other being the Ritz Carlton LA) . The hotel is a bit small and located in a very vanilla part of downtown - however unlike the Ritz, its also more quiet and away from tourists so vanilla might just be exactly what you need.

The bed and sheets and heavenly ( so after a full day you can really relax) and I find rooms well appointed . I also love that the restaurant - despite its cozy size has a great selection during all hours of the day perfect for business meetings over food.

Again - great hotel for the busy business executive or even tourist (who hates crowds).

Great location, lots of marble, big bathroom, beautiful hallways. Comfortable bed, room not huge but big enough not to feel cramped. Really lives up to its "old Hollywood vibe" promise. No bar on the rooftop patio but great view.

I have stayed here many times and was never let down like this time. We arrived at 330 and the room wasn't ready. Although polite the desk clerk offered nothing other than a bar nearby and come back in an hour. Normally I would expect a free cocktail in their bar or a room upgrade. Nothing.
Then when we did come back we had a room but the ac did not function much and we slept with the windows open. Unfortunately the traffic on Grand was loud all night so I am exhausted.
I also had trouble with the free wi fi. $10 a day is unacceptable.

The experience you described is not what's to be expected from our hotel. If you are going to charge that much per night, I would expect more conveniences, like a way to get a diet Coke other than calling for room service delivery of a 10 oz bottle of it for over $5. Average hotel that thinks it is better than it is.
