“Location and value, plus spacious!”
Reviewed October 7, 2006

My husband and I stayed in one of the king deluxe suites here on a Wednesday night, it was only $99! There was enough room for 4 to stay comfortably. The kitchen was totally stocked with whatever you wanted for cooking, and we couldnt believe the extra bedroom. It was like staying in an apartment. You walk right through this corrider and just like that your in Hollywood and Highland mall. You are literally on the same block as all the happenings in Hollywood, there was a Robin Williams premier that night, and we just walked in the door of the Jimmy Kimmel Live show and got seats. We had a blast with so much to do, and the location and price of this hotel was key. The staff was very friendly, and though the rooms were older, it was also clean.

We will definately be back!!

The Hollywood Orchid is LITERALLY a 4 minute walk to Grauman's Chinese, Hollywood Walk of Fame, and where the tours of Hollywood originate, and a 2 minute walk to Kodak Theater Center (plenty of restaurants, shops, etc ). You could not ask for a better location for first-time Hollywood visitors.

But, what makes the Orchid such a value is that despite it's location, it offers SPACIOUS suites (and, I DO MEAN spacious) right in the heart of Hollywood with extremely affordable prices. Highly recommended!

Ohhhh, and thanks Trip Advisor reveiwers for turning me onto this place! I'll be back!!!!!!

The location is brilliant litererally 2 minute walk from the walk of fame, very reasonable rate I think only paid 80 dollars a night , it was clean and comfortable and so spacious ,the bed was the biggest bed I have ever slept in! It wasnt really warm enough to use the pool but it looked nice, the lift was a bit small but still ok.

thanks to the reviews on this site, we tried it out last week. it was perfect for us and wish we had been able to take advantage of the full kitchen. we had one small problem but customer service was excellent. front desk was friendly and we were close to the walk of fame, grauman's and kodak. i would stay here again. i am a bargain shopper and need a clean, safe room without paying for all the frills.

Imagine the madness of Hollywood & Highland, the mall, the Kodak Theatre, the Chinese Theatre, the throngs of tourists and crazy characters...then imagine walking through the mall, out the back exit and into a quiet leafy street, where your hotel is 20 yards away. That hotel is the Hollywood Orchid Suites - an island of calm in a sea of madness. You don't just get a room, you get a complete kitchen, and I mean complete...fridge, cooker, microwave, toaster oven, sink, all the cutlery, crockery and pots and pans you will need. Thus you can make your own meals if you don't like the stodgy fare of Mel's, Denny's etc. You get a pool that seems barely used, so you can probably have it to yourself if you want it. All this for only $99 + tax per night. Of course there are catches - the peaceful calm of Orchid Avenue is broken in the early hours by the delivery trucks to the mall, if you're on that side of the hotel. The rooms are clean and fully functional, but not modern. There aren't many channels on the TV. Between the tall buildings, the pool gets about 2 hours of sunshine a day. But these are minor niggles. If you have a car, there is free secure underground parking, if you don't, you have easy access to the Metro Red Line and a host of bus routes. Either way you have the world's greatest city on your doorstep. I recently spent 11 nights here and didn't want to go home.

However, if sparkling luxury is what you're after, the Renaissance is across the road for three times the price.

My husband and I just returned from a one week stay at the Hollywood Orchid Suites and I have nothing but good things to say about the experience. We had an executive suite for $99--a large bedroom with a sofa and seating area, a full kitchen and bathroom. I requested and received a non-smoking room. The room was old but it was spacious and clean. We were at the front of the building so there was noise from service vehicles at the Renaissance Hotel across the way but we had our a/c on most of the time so it didn't bother us at all. LA is a noisy city and on our first visit we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express on LaBrea--a much noisier location and a much smaller room. The use of the complimentary computer was great for checking bus schedules and e-mail. Our room also had a safe which I appreciate so I can put my passport away and not worry about it. The young man at the front desk was pleasant and helpful--something that's not always true in budget hotels in LA. And, of course, as everyone says, the location can't be beat. We relied on public transit the whole week. This hotel is not for everyone because it is a little tired around the edges but I loved it and will definitely stay there again.

From start to finish we had a great stay at this hotel! Even before we arrived, having emailed the hotel directly with questions - the staff responded straight away & were very helpful.
Arriving from Australia & being too early to check in (but we could have if the room hadn't have had someone else staying in it the previous night), the staff were happy to hold our suitcases in a secure room while we went out & started exploring the Walk of Fame.

The location is FANTASTIC - perfect for weary travellers who have spent their days out & about. So close to the subway (jump on it & travel 3 mins to Universal Studios), or straight through the mall across the road & you're at the historic & very fabulous El Capitan theatre. Ask at reception about their discounted tickets for Universal Studios - they saved us $13 per entry.

While the suite is a little old - it was clean & very large & it's nice to have room to spread out. Having the free internet access was also a bonus.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND this hotel - it's great value for money & you'll love the location. Thanks again to the fabulous staff for being so helpful & friendly during our stay!!
