Check in was easy and friendly, happy to allow us to leave our bags until check in. Room was great we were a family of five and stayed on the lowest level (bit of noise from people walking past but not too bad) Kids shared a bed in the back room and we slept in the living area. Staff happy to advise on everything in the area and was very accessible to the areas of Hollywood we wanted to see. We didn't fell unsafe at all, and were within easy distance of some great places to eat! Breakfast was great with wonderful service!!

From the outside, this place doesn't look like much. It's right off of Hollywood Boulevard, and a person would understandably be skeptical on approach. But as soon as you step in the door, the Hollywood Orchid Suites goes about earning its rating.

The front-desk is staffed 24-hours-a-day by some great folks that, once they get to know you, make a habit of buzzing you in before you even have your key out. The continental breakfast is staffed by the nicest woman you'll ever meet. And the parking is 10 bucks a day. 10 bucks! The rooms are plain, but clean and huge, and the pool is a great thing if the weather is warm enough.

So, after you find out that the hotel is, in fact, top-notch, its dubious location becomes its greatest strength. If you want any food or drinks, the mall is just steps away, with all the choices that you could want to have. Also, there is a great photo op of the Hollywood Sign from the mall, smog-dependent, of course.

Also, you could go the other way outside your hotel and be in the heart of Hollywood, standing on the stars of famous people, right across from the El Capitan Theatre.

Simply put, this hotel is great value for the money when visiting the nation's entertainment capital.

This is a great little hotel located just a short walk to Hollywood bvd and the Hollywood walk of fame. The staff are very friendly and help you in any way they can. A light continental breakfast is provided, with fruits, cereal, toast, yoghurt and boiled eggs on offer, as well juices and tea/coffee. The rooms are clean and quite big, with a seperate kitchen and bathroom and the beds are comfortable. I would stay here again in the future.

Everything about this hotel exceed all of my expectations. It may be basic and could do with modernising but it is fantastically clean with much larger suites than most 5* hotels! The hotel is so well located in the middle of everything near (by LA standards) is really safe with free onsite parking. The best thing lies in the staff, Patricia on breakfast duty is a ball of energy who will just brighten up your day leaving you in a good mood and Romelle on front desk is just as helpful as they come, he was full of local knowledge on tours, eateries and bars. All in all, i would stay here again.

We stayed 3 nights at Orchid Suites and it was perfect for our family. We had a room (more like a suite) on the third floor with a large living area, TV, dining table, open plan kitchen and king size bed. There was a separate bedroom with another king bed and TV, lots of wardrobe space, good aircon if needed or could keep windows open all night for fresh air. Rooms all very spacious which was great for life with teens.

Hot June days so it was great to come back to the sparkling pool. Also a nice rooftop garden which we didn’t use.

Handy ice dispenser in the building as well as $1.50 washing machine and dryer.

Special mention to Patricia who was a bright start to the day cheerily over-feeding us croissants & jam, coffee, fresh fruit and yogurt. A hit with the teens.

Everything so clean, yes a little dated, but authentic Hollywood. Super comfy beds and pillows. Super location for all the Hollywood stuff and easy to get metro to Santa Monica to hire bikes to ride to Venice ($7/hr) or quick 780 bus to Farmers Market, LACMA, Petersen Auto Museum etc. Patricia great on the transport tips. We needed an extra night - getting around LA takes time!

If you find chain hotels a bit soulless and samey - you’ll appreciate the personality and great customer service of Orchid Suites.
