LESS THAN AVERAGE

The management were nice. The hotel itself is okay, but the room was not very good. The beds were uncomfortable and had springs. The pillows had water stains (hopefully water) and smelled like mold. The floor made our feet black when we walk barefoot and the toilet had to be flushed 3 times to actually flush. The shower water came out very cold and wouldn't heat up. We complained to the front desk, and they sent a maid who couldn't speak English. She didn't even know what she was supposed to do. We tried to explain nicely, but she just shouted at us in Spanish and walked away. We called management again, and they sent us a gift basket with chips and snacks, but that is the only reason I would rate this 3 stars.

We arrived at The Dunes inn and to us it looked like a motel out of the movies. The check in was smooth and the gentleman very helpful. The room itself was clean and tidy with a table, chest of drawers with a tv on, sink and bathroom. There was a heater/air con unit in the room.

The room was fine for what we wanted to sleep at night as we were going to be out during the days looking around LA. There was a sizeable gap under the front door and it could get a but noisy with other guests unloading cars and banging doors and putting on car alarms. The road that runs past was quite busy and there were loads of helicopters flying over obviously somewhere nearby that they use to take off.

One disappointing thing it was clean but on the towels there were dark hairs that didn’t come out during washing they change the towels as you use them but the next ones the same dark hairs just be careful and warned.

Use the on site diner the food was great and the service lovely. Breakfast was incredible and good value. There is a shop 2 minutes away for snacks and good value coffee and it’s 24 hours as well so that was handy. A couple of fast food places as well handy but didn’t use them.

Overall a good location and ok if you just want a base and somewhere to rest your head and sleep.

Perfect choice when staying in LA! Wished we could have stayed longer since day by day, the more difficult it gets to leave the place! You will never be incommoded by the location, it's right smack at the center of the happiest places everyone wants to go! From Universal Studios, Paramount, Netflix, etc. to Warner Bros., the legendary Amoeba Music Store, Pro Drum Shop, Farmers Market, the Dolby Theater, El Capitan, Walk of Fame, and just about any restaurant and comedy bar you feel like hanging out! My family and I felt the warmth and coziness of the staff, the lovely palm trees 'round the very spacious parking, and the beautiful diner beside it where everyday we couldn't wait to satisfy ourselves with the yummiest breakfast! The owner, John has a big heart to welcome each and every guest personally! Love it! Well be back again and again in this place for sure!

Stayed here for 3 nights in January. Location is fantastic right on Sunset and a block away from the 101 cut off so coming and going was a breeze. Fantastic view of the Hollywood sign also from the upper floor and the Dreams cafe done a fantastic breakfast. Rooms tidy and clean. Will definitely stay again

We stayed for two nights and found the accomodation to be neat and tidy. Not flashy at all but decent location and very easy to get a ride share from. We only used it as a base for a day trip to Universal Studios and then for the day before departure.
