“Enjoyable Stay, Nice Hotel, Will Return Again”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

Was looking for a new choice in LA and this came up in the set of options. I have not stayed in the past And frankly never considered Sofitel.

When we drove up we were promptly greeted by the valet staff. When we entered they offered us champagne and cookies. It's always nice to be greeted with champagne. The check in wait was non existent. Perfect check in.

The hotel is very nicely decorated and feels upscale. The moldings, trim, furnishings and decor are all very nice. We loved our room and the entire hotel experience. I like this better than the Ritz and it's less expensive.

The valets are by efficient so coming and going is painless.

The parking is $33 a night, however most charge in LA. The gym is a full gym in the spa and we were not charged for the viisit.

The restaurant is an excellent choice for dinner. We loved everything about Esterel.

This is a great hotel and I highly recommend it. I will be back.

Room Tip: We stayed for a few nights, left for a night (went to the desert) and then came back. Both were exc...

One of best locations when you visit LA, either for pleasure or business. Located in Beverly Hills, in front of Beverly Center, close by Rodeo Drive and Hollywood,... So if intend shopping or simply for a sightseeing tour, that a excellent place to stay. Hotel services, are what you could expect for a hotel of this level. Comfy rooms with amenities, Spa, fitness center, excellent room services,... Cuisine good, but you have also plenty of options at a walking distance. If you planning go to LA, its worthwhile consider Sofitel as a option.

Good service, good beds, quiet, great room service. Good location, valets and car service are great. We had a good stay. Despite the fact that it is close to Cedar sinai hospital, we heard nothing as the windows in the rooms are completely sound proof.

We hid out at the Sofitel Los Angeles for Valentine's Day. It was a delirously delicious treat for the both of us that began with an afternoon at LeSpa, well a session in the great fitness center followed by a shower and steam bath prior to my massage with the talented Luca and Richard's fabulous facial from equally adept Tess.
Then we took a sunset dip in the rooftop pool before a romantic dinner at the hotel's new dining venu, Esterel, which replaced the long-running Simon (the chef left to open a place downtown LA).
While we loved Simon's food, Esterel is a nice change. They have a good selection of low-cal dishes, too, which this travel writer diva likes since she spends lots of time in a bikini for wearin at her pool, in Hawaii or the many other beaches she and her husband visit.

Back to the hotel, we had a north-facing mega suite with large windows and a big balcony that looked out on the Hollywood Hills and famous signage. The room has all the creature comforts but the TV didn't work as well as Richard would have liked, he's fussy about his electronics. But the bed was comfy, the bathroom and tub a knock-out.

Room service breakfast not only arrived on the button the next morning but the waiter wore a big smile the whole time he served our meal.

The hotel is just across the street from LA's acropolis of consumerism, Beverly Center, so after our morning fuel up (pancakes, egg white omelette, etc) we walked over to the mall and maxed out the plastic (well not really maxed out but put a good dent in it).

The hotel has created a lovely voice that's warm, friendly, sophisticated and efficient. The clientele while we were in house was young to middle-aged. Love nearly everything about the hotel.

Room Tip: If your budget can handle it book a north facing suite on the 10th floor for a great view of the Hol...

I come to LA about once per year, and for a number of reasons we have stayed at the Sofitel LA because of its proximity to friends. The location itself is not so wonderful. It is busy, congested and just across the street from the Beverly Center. But there are a number of restaurants and cafes nearby, and the LA Design Center is within walking distance. The rooms are excellent: well-designed, elegant, comfortable, interesting. The bathrooms are tops! One of the distressing problems with the Sofitel chain is that their awards program times out if you do not return in a given amount of time, and you lose all of your accrued points.

I stayed here on Business for 3 nights in Feb 2013. Check in was smooth, a slight wait but nothing to be worried about. I was in fact just happy to be out of the cab of which the cab driver was head banging to 60's music all the way from the airport, so yes I was glad to see the hotel :-)
I had the luxury room, a little smaller than expected considering the size of the hotel but it was no issue and I had plenty of room for myself and don't see it being a problem for 2. Bed very comfortable, bathroom large with a rain shower.
I had breakfast in my room on all mornings and it was divine. Good value for money and service from staff top notch!
The staff in the bar in the evening were also very friendly, welcoming and attentive where I also ate dinner on 2 occasions (I definitely recommend the Escargot!!)
Check out was probably the quickest I have ever experienced.
Even though I didn't utilise all the amenities in the hotel, what I did use and experience was excellent and would definitely stay here again.
Thoroughly recommended.

I stayed at the Hotel Sofitel in February of 2013 with my partner.

Location - In LA location is pretty much irrelevant. If you even think about attempting LA without a car it's not gonna be much fun. LA is extremely difficult to get around, public transport is practically non-existent everything is so far apart and busy that taking cabs is expensive. Only positive is that the hotel is right across the road from the Beverly Center (a huge shopping mall with everything you could need) and there are a few restaurants there as well.

Rooms - Was nice and clean. Bathroom with rainfall shower was lovely. Bed was unbelievably soft and comfy.

Service - Terrible. Staff are condescending and rude and generally don't care or wish to help out tourists. Disapppointing. They all came across as really fake and not genuine in their friendliness considering when you actually wanted some help would turn pretty rude.

Ammentities - Though too cold to swim, pool looked okay but a bit small. Gym was absolutely fantastic. Better than ours at home!

At the end of the day, while the bed was really comfortable and rooms overall nice the service really turned our stay sour. You could easily find another 100 hotels in LA with nice rooms and comfy beds with much better service (especially for the price we paid). My tip? Go somewhere else.

We do not recommend and will not be going back.
