“Great food -- even at lunchtime”
Reviewed January 14, 2013

I'd never been to Hungry Cat for lunch until the other day -- and it was fantastic. Service was great -- it was busy but not packed like it normally is at night. The food is simply delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. It's the perfect spot for a nice lovely lunch where you can actually hear each other talk. Can't want to go back.

“Great food, Ok value”
Reviewed December 8, 2012

Very interesting menu and great food. Just hidden enough to make it semi-quiet and exclusive. Mostly seafood, but has a other fare as well.

“Interesting Ambiance/Decor - Stellar Food”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

Having been to the other two Hungry Cat locations, in Santa Barbara and Santa Monica Canyon - I had relatively high expectations. The Hungry Cat Hollywood is located in a small alley next to the Sunset + Vine mall/parking complex. I walked past it before I realized where it was as it's pretty easy to miss. The decor leaves a lot to be desired as it's very minimalist, sparse and kind of stale feeling. The other two locations definitely win in this capacity, though their locations are far better. That said, the food did NOT disappoint. My friend and I ordered the seafood tower and basically at the ocean! It was wonderful, the oyster selection was solid, service was fantastic, delicious caviar, lobster, etc. The food alone was phenomenal. I would definitely recommend it - but if your looking for a restaurant with a view and a nice vibe - I would definitely suggest the Hungry Cat location in Santa Monica Canyon, as their raw bar, seating and adjacent view of the Malibu beach - is to die for.

“Fish restaurant with excellent serivce”
Reviewed November 1, 2012

Hungary Car is tucked away oddly behind the touristy part of Hollywood Blvd but it is worth suffering through the ugliness to get to this place. Creative fish dishes and nice deisgn over all, indoor and outdoor seating. Not too big so that's nice too but I went on a fairly non-busy night.

“A pleasant retreat in busy Hollywood”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

We stopped for brunch on the way to the Pantages theater, a short walk away. The restaurant opens at 11 am on Sunday and attracts a young crowd, some folks carrying goodies from the farmers' market around the corner. Tucked away at the rear of a courtyard, it's a calm space for a meal and conversation.
Brunch selections all very attractive, many incorporating seafood. The crab cake Benedict featured impeccably fresh, perfectly poached eggs, hand-cut bacon and sauteed lacinato kale. Hard to choose among the tempting offerings.
Would give it five stars if the chairs had cushions - sit outside if you can, where the benches are quite comfortable. Service cheerful, efficient, and alert to curtain times.
