“The most amazing weekned in Venice Beach!”
Reviewed January 13, 2013

My Fiance and I planned a trip to spend the day in Venice Beach. We hadn't decided where we wanted to stay, Santa Monica, Los Angeles or Venice Beach..We walked into one of the shops on the boardwalk and asked the guy behind the counter if he had any suggestions...He sent us right to Su Casa !! He told us the hotel is great, the food at the restaurant is great, the location is great! He was right! We went in to Su Casa and met Jonathan... what a great host! So incredibly helpful...so nice...gave us information about everything we needed to know about the hotel, parking, the Figtree Cafe, the continental breakfast, the night life, where to go and where not to go...he left us wondering nothing!!! He answered questions we didn't even know we had..it was perfect! Jonathan even took us up to the room to see it before we registered. The room was incredible with a breathtaking view! We were amazed at every inch of our room. Not only did we have the amazing view of the ocean and beach, we had the venders on the
boardwalk right under our 2nd story window! Great people watching! Our room was furnished so comfortable..light and airy...cozy chairs and couch..and table for two to eat at...a kitchen with everything we could ask for...The bathroom was beautiful with a huge tub! It was a perfect size for two! The bed was one of the coziest comfiest softest warmest...I could go on...it was so incredibly comfortable! Jonathan told us about the "rubber mattress"...We want one now after sleeping on the one at Su Casa!! We ordered off the free continental breakfast menu and also off the Figtree menu...It was the best breakfast I've had in a long time. It was so healthy..Steel Cut oatmeal, Granola fruit and yogurt and a pineapple and coconut scone...fantastic!! My fiance ordered off the regular menu..50% off from 8am to 10am..eggs Benedict which he loved!!! I have nothing but good to say about Su Casa, Jonathan and Venice Beach! We wished our stay was longer! Jonathan invited us back and we will definitely take him up on it! Thank you Jonathan!!!

Room Tip: Order the continental breakfast...amazing! Ask for an ocean view room...the sunset was beautiful!

Stayed one night in the one bedroom oceanview suite. On the plus side, awesome location and view, Jonathon at the desk very happy to assist with anything including carrying up the bags. Not so good are no lift (stairs only), parking 40m or so away and limited space to offload bags near the hotel. Our suite appeared to be mid decoration with large chunks of filler adorning the walls. Neither air conditioner worked so we had to rely on the noisy portable unit they supplied. Furniture varied widely in quality with some very comfortable and others you felt you might just fall through it. Kitchen appliances appeared to be good quality although we didn't use them. TV in the bedroom seemed to only show a spanish channel (maybe my technical incompetance!)The room was clean and well decorated. Communication between the hotel and the figtree cafe seemed a little disconnected regarding what was free, what was discounted and when this applied. Jonathon sorted this out for us after several confusing conversations with the cafe. That said the cafe food is very good. Some others have commented that the rehab facility was a problem however while we never felt threatened the newly sober residents now get up early and discuss matters early in the morning which woke us up. Venice is an expensive place to stay if you want the view so Su Casa is probably priced appropriately for what you get but if it was anywhere else it would be overpriced. If you value high quality furnishings and fully renovated rooms ((to be fixed soon??) this is probably not for you however if location and view is your thing this could be the place.

We stayed here for just one evening before returning home (wish we had found it sooner!)
The apartment was very tastefully decorated with a lot of attention to detail.
The view to the ocean was wonderful - we even saw dolphins playing!!
The hosts were perfect; welcoming and polite.
The place is right above the fig tree, which seemed like a great place to eat. Unfortunately, during summer they stop serving at 8 pm.
The location is a distance from the 'action' but this was not such a problem for us. Also, there was always something going on - we had the buskers and usual Venice beach vendors under our window - great for people-watching!
The only downside is the parking (public a five min walk away) and the lack of elevator. If travelling light this is not an issue.
All in all a really fabulous place!!!

My husband & I stayed at Su Casa on Venice Beach, end of july beginning of august 2012 for 7 nights. It was great! Friendly staff & very clean! Although maid service is not offered everyday like in a full service hotel, they come clean the room about twice a week which was enough. This place is right on the boardwalk, right on the beach, perfect location! 25 minute walk to Santa Monica Pier, as well as 3rd street Promenade for shopping. Best part about Su Casa is that they offer complimentary breakfast from the restaurant right below the hotel! They bring it right up to your room!
Venice Beach has character, you either love it or hate it! Lots of street performers, artists, tattoo shops, all sorts of people!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Deluxe Studio, which had a kitchenette. Very spacious.

We stayed here for three nights at the beginning of April. The rooms were clean and cosy, the bathrooms were great. The staff were helpful and I really cant fault the place. Venice beach is literally outside the front door, and the little cafe next door makes a great breakfast and Mexican lunch. I wish we could have stayed for a month!

This place was so amazing. Jonathan at the front desk was so kind, caring, attentive, and helpful. The room was very nice, clean, and beautiful. The location was perfect, on the beach and you receive a small free breakfast in bed. The only down side was there was no elevator, but Jonathan at the front desk carried my bag up for me. The room had a kitchen, beautiful bathroom, and very comfortable bed!
Perfect place to stay and I have to compliants!

My husband and I stayed at Su Casa for four nights over the Presidents Day long weekend... from the moment we arrived Sammy was friendly and really helpful. We stayed in an ocean front room and a one bedroom balcony room. My pick is definitely the ocean front room looking out over the beach. You can look out over the boardwalk and the water and it is very spacious with a huge bathroom. The rooms have cool relaxed decor, very beachy with great old photos of Los Angeles. We found the room and linen very clean and of a high standard.

Venice Beach is Venice Beach, full of characters and definitely the quirkier side of LA and we absolutely loved it. The atmosphere during the day is fantastic and there are a couple of bars very close by if you feel like a drink after dinner. We didn't feel uncomfortable at night but there are certainly alot of homeless people and street characters around. If a few residentially challenged people and street performers freak you out then Venice probably isn't for you. There are a few comments from reviewers about the rehab facility next door but I must admit I didn't even realise what the place was until I read about it on here after my stay at Su Casa. It isn't noisy, i just thought it was apartments and offices. The hotel has parking about a block away and had absolutely no problems.

I would definitely recommend Su Casa to anyone keen to checkout Venice and Santa Monica and are looking for a relaxed boutique style hotel in an excellent location. The staff were excellent and the rooms were great!! i really hope to return to LA one day and even after seeing a lot of LA including Santa Monica, Beverley Hills, Hollywood etc i think I would still choose this location.

A big thanks thanks to Sammy and the staff for fitting us in on such short notice !!

Room Tip: I would spend a little more and get a one bedroom ocean front room... it was great waking up to the...
