I would highly recommend this hotel. It is located in the centre of Hollywood only a 2 min walk from the 'Walk of Fame', Theaters, Shopping, Nightlife & Restaurants.
-Santa Monica: 30 min drive, we hired a car for 24hrs (cheaper than a taxi & easier than public trans)
-Universal Studios: 10 mins away

From the outside does not do it justice, however as soon as you walk through the front doors that completely changes. The property is modest and in no means 5* but its very clean, well presented & comfortable. There were robes in our rooms, all u can eat/drink free snacks 24/7, free movies, adequate heating & extra blankets, heated pool & a decent free continental breakfast daily.

The staff were second to non - absolutely fantastic! They were very knowledgeable on where to go, things to do & see, if they couldnt answer your queries they will find out from someone else.

They recommended a really good, casual bar 2 mins around the corner - Tinhorn Flats, highly recommend it!!

“Worth checking out!”
Reviewed December 28, 2013 via mobile

If you manage to get an invite to the Magic Castle, I would definitely take advantage! I'll be the first to admit that I was skeptical going into it.

It was a very entertaining night filled with several tricks and illusions that were absolutely mind-boggling. A few acts were so impressive it almost made me a believer =P. There was a fair share of flops and more predictable tricks as well but still entertaining nonetheless.

Cost of admission for our group was $20 cover charge plus a minimum of one entree per person. We had dinner reservations for 9:45pm. We got there early (around 6pm) to give us enough time to see all the shows and performances. We stayed through the last show which came on just past midnight.

“The Class and Charm of Old Hollywood”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

Located just behind Hollywood Blvd in the heart of the entertainment capital, The Magic Castle sits in a nostalgic Hollywood neighborhood on Franklin Ave. The dress code is strictly enforced and this adds to the charming theme of old Hollywood. When you enter, you are greeted by a doorman who is funny, kind and helpful. He will give a brief set of rules to follow before entry. The most important rule and one you will find in most of Hollywood's attractions, NO PICTURES beyond the lobby. A secret entrance behind a bookshelf leads you into the castle. There are lots of staircases, bars, sitting areas and mini theatres. The Castle is peppered with magicians who will sit with you and perform various tricks for you and your guest(s). The Castle usually books very famous magicians for small shows in the various theatres within the Castle. All are very talented. This is worth the money and an attraction that should not be missed!

“$$$ but worth it!”
Reviewed December 5, 2013

Yes, it's true - you can't just walk in. You need to get a pass from a member (and I suspect many hotel concierges can get you one). And it is expensive - but it's a great evening. We had 9:45pm dinner reservations and we arrived at 7pm. We didn't leave till 12:30am. That's a lot of bang for your buck. I saw where one reviewer only saw a 45 min. show. You cant sit back and wait for someone to lead you around. You have to wander around the whole house, ask employees where/what to do next and you will have a blast. I mean - there are 5 bars - whoo hoo! As for the magic - we saw the close up show (close to the entrance), the small showroom, the downstairs bar magician, the main showroom, and we had a private, super close-uo show just for our party of 7. The house itself is beautiful. Our dinner was awesome - but out of the 7 of us - one had the beef Wellington and it wasn't the greatest. So - arrive early, roam around, if someone looks like he might be a magician - he probably his. Ask him for some magic! You must have ID to get in and the dress code is enforced. Not for kids in the evenings. I believe they have day time shows that would be better. Just too crowded at night for kids - and most adults are enjoying a cocktail l
