“Foodie Paradise!”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

Our biggest problem was choosing which meals without any idea what would be served. We decided on the 8 course with wine pairing finally- and with zero regrets. Every dish had a note of brilliance. If this continues, Chef is on his way towards the legion of Ripert, Keller, Achatz, Humm & Dufresne.

Dish elements are subtle, never overbearing, and every element has a place in the dish and can be tasted cleanly without mess. Wine pairings are very good, some brilliant choices, and only one I did not care for. The eight course meal provided plenty of food without being overly stuffed, I'd love to go back and try another form of meal.

Service was excellent- Mary was our main server: attentive, great listener, wonderful suggestions.

The decor is simple and plain- focus is on the food, and it is well worth the trip. Go, and enjoy.

“Chef's Choice is a Good Choice!”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

Orsa and Winston is a dining adventure: Your only options are 5 courses or 8 courses, wine pairing or not. The rest is left to the culinary artistry of the chef. (There are a few a la carte choices which you can add to the prescribed courses). But you are in good hands. We were delighted with each course--from the Thai curry soup with smoky duck and grapes, to the homemade chicken ravioli with a surprise raw egg in the middle. (If you have special food requests, there is a $12 extra charge). The optional wine pairing was $40 per person, but worth it. The pairings were inventive and thoughtful. They served a sake with a scallop on clam risotto, which was a bit of a jolt after European wine--but I think it was a brilliant punctuation to the arc of the meal.
The service was wonderful--attentive and informative and just nice. . .

“another winner from Chef Josef Centeno”
Reviewed March 18, 2014

Having enjoyed several memorable meals Chef Centeno's DTLA landmarks (Lazy Ox, Bar Ama, Baco Mercat) I really looked forward to a meal at Orsa & Winston.
The Chef has an uncanny ability to reinvent himself at each venue, O&W is his biggest leap yet. We found our eight course (and wine pairing) dinner among our favorites. The food is beyond innovative and the vibe is fun. The staff made us feel right at home. I'd compare this to London's Viajante or Ledbury.
Dining here is world class and an opportunity to experience a genius chef at the top of his game.
