Great service and great food... Eggs Benedict were fab, with fresh orange and unlimited coffee.... Brilliant way to start the day.

It was a good place to have breakfast. We were not familiar with the area so we by chance came across Cables.

“A comfort food "family" restaurant - that's about right”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

Well you wouldn't come here for fine dining or haute cuisine would you? Of course not.
The place is big and airy with a good variety of seating, the staff pleasant and the service was pretty prompt.
The menu is middle of the road American "family" from buffalo wings to burgers. I had a Reuben sandwich. My friends had the cream of broccoli soup and house salad combo and we had a carafe of chardonnay - and some fries with that. All for $70USD. I leave you to judge the value of that.
The soup seemed OK though I can't judge because broccoli is one of the few earthly foodstuffs I hate. The salad came with a small paper cup of dressing and some really awful croutons. The Reubens came on a chewy toasted ryebread with some tasteless cheesy glue adhered to its inner layers, the top layers of which I just had to chuck. The fries were cool and somewhat limp. But it all more than filled a belly which is is the purpose of joints like this I guess. But all in all we'd have been better off with a home delivery pizza. Same belly filling function a tad cheaper.
