The Original Farmers Market is simply the most enchanting place in L.A. It is charming, friendly, eclectic and full time fun. In one truly quirky setting, you'll find great food, an outstanding grocery store (butchers, bakers, fish & poultry, spices, desserts, nuts, candy, beer & wine and more), plus souvenirs, gifts, jewelry, scents, books and on and on. . .virtually all of the shops are mom-and-pop, owner operated. If you go to LA and do not visit this place, you can't say you've really "seen" LA at all. . .do not miss this beloved institution.
PS: Wanna see stars? This is the place.

If you are visiting from out of town, I think this is a "must see" for Los Angeles. This Farmers Market is open 7 days a week and has many booths with local fresh fruits and vegetables - the best, and candy booths and souvenir booths (unique stuff, everything you could want in souvenirs pertaining to Los Angeles and Hollywood) - some really cool and unique stuff in a multitude of different "booths". Plus a toy store and gourmet food store, a kiddie stamp store, home made candies... Then there is also a FOOD court plus throughout the Farmers Market are food booths where you can everything from Cajun to Vietnamese to American, Sushi, Lebanese, Greek - you name it. Yes and there are bars too - including the "Whisper Lounge".

Then in case you get bored, there is "The Grove" right next door, a one minute walk to one of the biggest out door shopping malls in LA filled with stores, restaurants and movie theaters.

This may not be the best place for food in LA but it has one of the best vibes in LA. From early morning to early evening there are beers to drink, food to taste and people to watch. If your not into the tourist crowd go early in the morning and see some Farmers' Market regulars! I love the Farmers' and can't recommend it enough!

The Farmers Market has everything, If you don't want to have a formal sit-down meal at one of the restaurants at The Grove you can walk to the Farmer's Market and get a burger, PoBoy sandwich, grilled fish, a salad and much more. If you don't have time to sit and eat you can get fresh meats, fish and produce to take home and cook yourself. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert...the Farmers Market has everything!

So fun to browse all the shops and food places all day. It's covered and has cement flooring so can be a bit chilly. You could spend the day here while the girls shop in the Grove outdoor shopping center that is attached. There are foods you can take home to prepare or sit down to eat. Anything from breakfast to ice cream. Starbucks to take home seafood. There are a few little sit down around the bar to have a few drinks places that always seem to be good for conversation. There are restrooms and security on site. Parking can be busy at times but worth the trouble.
