“Underwhelming”
Reviewed January 30, 2013

Our restaurant week experiences in Boston have been excellent. We've come to expect smaller amounts. But in LA, at this restaurant the portions were meagre. We were a party of five, those who ordered the scallops got one each, the ravioli course was mandatory and the five small examples, while flavorful, were undercooked (not al dente). The oxtail pasta, all two bites of it, was salty. I can't even remember my dessert as I was so let down by the quality of service and the noise. We only ordered one bottle of wine, an overpriced Nebbiolo at $80 and our waiter looked miffed when we did not order another. I would not go back.

“Loved the food but not the management”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

Apart from the chef, an Italian who really knows food and prepares great dishes, the restaurant has poor management. The owner is unfriendly and snobbish, but if you like authentic Italian cuisine this is a nice place to eat.

“Skip this snotty, snooty place”
Reviewed December 29, 2012

We made reservations for NYE over a month ago for 5:30pm, specifically for a 'Truffle Tasting Menu' after being told we could when we last visited this place and spent $500 for 4 people, bringing our own wine. Called today [12/29] to confirm, was told no truffles, only a special 6 course menu is available and no one told me otherwise -- even though in our Open Table it states "we are coming for the Truffles". First the person answering the phone was rude, unapologetic but had the take it or leave it, we are fully booked anyway attitude -- when I asked for the manager to explain that we were fine with it being a misunderstanding, but that in no way does that give the girl on the phone an opportunity to be rude and condescending, it was you plans that just got screwed two days before NYE. It took a go "F" yourself and hanging up the phone to be done -- as the mgr. was too busy to talk to me. Despite the excellent food Chef Roberto puts out, this place has no chance of lasting in LA with this type of front of the house chaos -- and treating its customers like they are doing us a favor. There are so many other choices in LA.

“Great service, average Italian food”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

We ordered the fixed price menu which included four courses.
1st course was three appetizers, lamb, duck and venison. The lamb was exquisit and the duck and venison were tasteless.
2nd course was venison pasta and there was so much all spice in the dish, I couldn't eat it.
3rd course was four small veal "pieces" veal and it was very very good.
4th course was dessert and it was exceptional but miniscule--three micro small items.

Service and ambiance are wonderful.

Go for the fun but don't expect great food.

“poor impression”
Reviewed December 12, 2012

We didn't like it. We went there on our first evening and decided to have a light italian dinner. The staff wasn't rude, but it was a feeling that we are poor relatives and they did us a favour and let us in. The prices are too high even for seaside
