“Don't bother”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012

Food was average at best. Even the pasta was undercooked! Veal dishes were very pricey and tasteless. Purchased vouchers via Gilt City and San Genarro staff seemed to make up the rules on its use- "cannot combine with other offers" became only one voucher per table, "for reservations call" became for sit-down only. Would I recommend this place - NO

“THE BEST ITALIAN FOOD AND REAL NY PIZZA”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2011

My favorite. The best food, intimate atmosphere and reasonable. Foccacia bread, the best. Lots of dishes to choose from and great pizza.

“Avoid San Gennero's in Brentwood at all costs”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 10, 2009

Recently sent my son to try out their buy one, get one free coupon. Part of the expiration date of 6/23/09 was torn off and hostess refused to honor it, stating it was not valid. Furthermore, host (Female, 5'8" brown hair) refused to give my son his money after he stated that I gave him just enough to pay for the 3 dishes, taking the coupon into consideration. She was creating quite a scene for my son and she forced him to choose two of the 3 dishes, instead of giving him all 3 dishes. My son, not wanting to rock the boat and be further humiliated took what was offered. Serving size for the Shrimp Scampi was too small for the price paid. Lettuce for the Caprese salad was wilted and there were three meager (thin) slices of mozzarella that accompanied the salad. In the interest of customer service, and for our future patronage of the restaurant, I think she should have given him the three dishes as ordered. Let me add that this host told me that my son was very well-mannered when I questioned why she was treating him in such a manner.

“Bait and Switch ( dining coupon)”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 3, 2008

The restaurant touts an extensive $12 wine list but when you try to pick anything decent from the list it is not available. The waiter then tried suggesting (actually picking) overpriced bottles from the regular list. With a bad start the waiter said that our valid coupons from the local paper could not be used. The manager overruled his decision but then decided not to honor them when the bill came.
The pizza was good but we were tricked into ordering 2 with the coupon that was not honored( pizza has an unwritten rule of being excluded) The pasta had a watery old fashioned sauce and the specials were overpriced. The staff were abhorrant, demeaning and argumentative. Stick to the pizza.
