“Very pleasant lunch or dinner.”
Reviewed March 9, 2014

Very decent food at reasonable prices. In nice weather, it's a lovely place to have a casual meal. The menu is interesting, the wine list good and the atmosphere always pleasant. A good local find.

“Go for lunch”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

This is a sit down cafe inside The Original Farmers Market. The service can be slow but the lunch choices are plentiful and very tasty. There is also a take out area inside Monsieur Marcel's market adjacent to the cafe. If you love cure olives this place has a wide assortment at competitive prices (sold by weight) as well as a very nice selection of cheeses and cured meats. As I type this I'm thinking that this would be a great spot to stop off for the making of a picnic which can be shared at one of the empty tables in the market adjacent to the cafe or just a 1/2 mile away at the park adjacent to the Tar Pit/Page Museum and LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art).

“Authentic French cuisine”
Reviewed February 20, 2014

I suspect French followers of this website might look at this establishment with some disdain, but it’s very close to authentic French cooking. If you need a break from the retail delights of 3rd Avenue and shopping mall, and are looking for something other than a burger, pizza or pasta nearby, then this is a great place to come. The food is really very good; the service is both efficient and friendly; and it’s very good value while watching the shoppers pass by.

“Delightful”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

We were in Santa Monica and saw this very interesting restaurant on the 3rd Street Promenade. It ended up that our meal was so enjoyable that we can't wait until our next visit to Los Angeles so we can eat here again. We started with a selection of cheeses. Our favorite was Saint Agur. We had chosen three others to try and enjoyed each one. Next, we had their VERY delicious French onion soup. We each selected a different entrée and tried a taste of each one. They were all delicious. For dessert (we were stuffed but couldn't resist) we split the crème brulee and the chocolate fondue - YUMMMMMM! We truly had a delightful evening with extremely attentive service. We highly recommend a visit here and was worth every penny spent. You will not be disappointed!

“French delight amidst promenade fun”
Reviewed January 27, 2014

I was looking for the perfect French quiche for quite a long time and my search ended here. Wow! That was one heck of a Spinach and Cheese quiche and awesome French wine. The authentic French taste really delighted me and the service was very good too. The best part of this cafe/ restaurant is that they have this really cool outdoor seating where you can enjoy the 3rd Street promenade fun. So do your infinite shopping in 3rd Street, enjoy the street performances and wind up your day by treating your tummy at Monsieur Marcel.
