As a retired member if the military, my husband got a room under $60 including tax. Obviously the navy base is safe. Room has. Refrigerator sink and microwave. Kitchen is stocked with dishes. Very clean. Beautiful grounds. Drove a half hour to Huntington Beach which was beautiful.

I stayed at this hotel in November 2013 before a cruise. This hotel is on federal property so there is no need to pay tax. I arrived here via a rental car and parked in front of the lobby to check in. Once I checked in I got to my room and settled in. The room had a kitchen and a fridge. However luckily it wasn't summer, these rooms are not equipped with AC. I'm not a fan of blaring AC the whole time but I can imagine when its pretty hot, how bad it can be. Other than that the area is safe. DoD police is nearby. San Pedro is up the street for restaurants. I recommend coming here if you are military and want to save money.

We booked a room not knowing what bedroom accommodations we would receive. Unfortunately, the second bed turned out to be on a dingy pull out sofa in the living room next to one of the noisiest refrigerators I've ever heard. They supplied sheets, a white comforter, but no mattress pad (mattress complete with yellow stain), and two lumpy pillows. I sat on the mattress to get in the bed and it bottomed out on the metal bar. UGH. Very uncomfortable, needless to say. The other bed was fine.

Room Tip: Sofa bed is very uncomfortable. Refrigerator extremely noisy if you have to sleep on the sofa bed.

My husband stayed here on business and I joined him for a part of the stay. The older building housing the rooms was well maintained and it, as well as the entire complex, had immaculate grounds. The interior of the rooms appeared to have been newly renovated. This place was perfect for extended stays having just about everything you’d need; including free washer/dryer use in a spotless basement laundry room. The fully equipped kitchen, minus a dishwasher, had a full size refrigerator, gas stove, microwave, coffeemaker and cookware, dinnerware, glassware and utensils. The small bedroom had a comfortable bed, with fluffy pillows and quality bed linens. A tall dresser held the flat screen television and provided plenty of storage space along with a decent size closet that also had a safe. The super teeny bathroom with tub and toilet was a bit cramped even for smaller people; thankfully the vanity provided more room. The shower pressure was poor. To our surprise there was no air conditioning, which we found to be odd. The living/dining area had a ceiling fan and there was also a box fan provided. Opening the windows provided a breeze, but several times the room was warmer than we preferred. Air conditioning would have been nice to cool the room down, but even more importantly to knock down the humidity level which was high in the room. For those who like to run or walk there is a nice jogging/walking trail that loops around some pretty scenery with views overlooking the marinas at the port and the sea. The housekeeping staff did a great job of keeping the room clean and supplying fresh towels when needed. I’d give this place an excellent rating if it had air conditioning, but would definitely stay here again in the future.

Of course you have to be associated with the military to stay here, but his is a great location and the temporary housing are very spacious with everything you would like for a temporary stay. The installation is very clean and very accessible being located right near the port. We were able to purchase discounted tickets to Disney from ITT and was located about 35 miles from the park. They have a small shoppette to purchase items. We had a great stay.
