“An L.A. Landmark worth going to for lunch for kitschy Italian fare.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

This place is worth going to if your lunch or dinner options are limited. The menu is not very creative and offers the usual, stale array of Americanized Italian pastas and other fare. The inside is worth seeing so if you have a choice (and there are many in L.A.), stop in and take a look around, maybe have a drink and an appetizer and then high-tail it someplace else for a better meal.

“Love this place!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

I make a point to go here every time I'm in LA. The food is good - I've tried various pasta and pizza and always been happy - and the prices are reasonable. But I love the atmosphere. It's like going back in time to an older Hollywood, plus makes a nice change from the typical Hollywood restaurants or burger bars. I will definitely go back.

“The worst pizza I've ever eaten- I've had better frozen ones”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2012 via mobile

This place is in a cracking location and has been going since 1949, I have no idea how they can get Italian food so wrong.

The pizza was the worst I've ever eaten, you can buy nicer ones frozen from the shop.

The service was fine though and a man played a piano which created a pleasant atmopshere. But not worth the money at all.

Avoid!

“Gem right in Hollywood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 10, 2012

Found this place by accident to be honest. Me and the wife were hanging out near Graumans and we decided we wanted to eat some good Italian. I searched for all Italian restaurants near us and this one came up with the key words "homestyle" "singing waiters" so I knew we had to check it out.

When you walk in you can EASILY smell the history of this place, its the oldest italian restaurant in Hollywood, and true to form the piano player and a waiter were performing. We had a balcony view over the piano player and gotta admit the food and service were excellent. I had the lasagna, the wife had plain fetuccini alfredo, and it definitely tastes like home.

The piano player is definitely a hoot and was playing it up with the crowd.

Whenever I'm in LA again I will definitely check it out.

Also they have a very good selection of Italian beers too.

“Great spot”

Lovely dinner with great atmosphere. Great old style Italian restaurant with music. Felt more like NYC than LA.
