“Solid, honest food”

You get exactly what you ask for. The price is good and the service quite good. The food is fresh and tasty with a hint of the 1950's, or is it just the ambiance that makes it seem that way? Fast and clean.

Customer service here is horrible, from the waitstaff, all the way to the managers. We received our drink orders but nothing else. We waited for about twenty minutes and our server never came around to take our food orders. We watched him help other people, but he ignored us altogether, even when my husband tried to get his attention. Finally, we just paid the check for the two beverages and left. When we expressed our disappointment with the manager, he didn't seem to care. We will definitely not be returning here the next time we visit Los Angeles.

“Movie Spot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 8, 2013

We ate at the location on Sunset Boulevard right on the "Strip", lots of movies and televisons shows have been filmed here, we are big Entourage fans and it was alwasy in the opening shots of the show. Great chocolate milk shakes. Takes you back in time.

“Great burgers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2013

There were 8 of us stopped by Mel's Drive In after visiting the really fun Hollywood Museum next door. Saturday afternoon 3pm. we went to Mel's for lunch. Service was great, quick and friendly. We had bacon/avocado burgers, tuna melt, salads and apple pie ala mode. Burgers are $8. - $12. and fries are extra. The burgers are big enough to share and so was the apple pie. We really enjoyed it and the location is centrally located to all the sites you'd want to see in Hollywood. There is a 3 story mall across the street, and Grauman's Chinese theater is a block away.

“Good retro place to eat late at night”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

Ate here a couple of times during our trip to L.A. Friendly staff and fun atmosphere with jukeboxes in some of the booths. Good quick food, with slider burgers a main feature. Chef changed dishes to make them gluten free for me. Great cocktails. We were there in winter and it was one of the few places around the Boulevard that was open late at night eg. midnight.
