“Great Corned Beef”

Old deli that still provides the best food choices and value. Every time I see it mentioned on local tv, I have to run down there for a "fix".

“Best pastrami I've had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 4, 2013

I eat at Langer's once every few months. It's near MacArthur Park, which is beautiful, but a bit of a sketchy neighborhood. Once you walk into Langer's though, it's like another world.

The famous #19 is amazing. The meat is so tender it melts in your mouth. It's served warm and is nicely contrasted by the cool, crisp cole slaw. It's sandwiched between soft double-baked rye bread with an excellent crust! I also recommend having the #19 with a chocolate egg cream.

In summation: This place - and especially the #19 - is rad.

“Best Pastrami Sandwich in the West Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 2, 2013

This L.A. MacArthur Park area deli is one of those establishments you have to try at least once. Langer's has been around since 1947, so they must be doing something right. The hand-cut pastrami will melt in your mouth. The pastrami with Swiss sandwich with homemade coleslaw on rye bread with this great crust is something that you will want to go back for. As I work on this review my mouth is watering for another taste. We had this great waitress that had been at the deli for over 20 happy years! I hesitate to say that Langer’s is actually the best deli pastrami sandwich in the U.S.A.

“Siuperb Pastrami and Bread but eat not in a sandwich”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

Fantastic pastrami, I would give it a 10+. Same for the bread. But do not combine and eat as a sandwich. The flavor and crust of the bread are too big for the sandwich, It will drown out the taste of the exquisite pastrami. Eat separately and you will get the full flavors and texture of each. Take a bite of one and after a while a bite of the other.

Pastrami is sliced thick and is nicely done with just the right amount of fat and juice and spices, Bread is loaded with rye seeds and other spices with wonderful texture ( nice and soft but real rye bread consistency). Crust is out of this world. BUT DO NOT COMBINE OR YOU WILL LOSE THE FULL FLAVOR OF EACH.

Rest of food is so-so. Thus the average rating. Turkey is not off the bird, Cole slaw has good ingredients but is too dry. Potato salad tastes like it comes from Smart and Final. Tiny bits of potato in a non describable mixture. On second thought, Smart and Final's version is better.

Pickles are way below average for a deli and skimpy besides. Most delis you get a dish of pickles on the table when you sit down.

Egg Cream, although very attractive with a beautiful head of cream, is also below average in taste. Not enough chocolate.

In summary Brent's wins hands down with an overall rating of 10+.. Langers get around a 6.5
